Today is market day in Chichicastenango! You will visit the largest and most colourful open-air indigenous market in Guatemala. Hundreds of indigenous people arrive from surrounding villages to sell and trade their products. You will also have the opportunity to witness religious ceremonies held in and around the Church of Santo Tomás, which is over 400 years old (shorts, swimming costumes, and any type of photography inside the church are strictly prohibited). Afterwards, continue to Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world and one of Guatemala’s most famous natural wonders. Atitlán is the ideal place to experience Guatemalan folklore first-hand. Twelve indigenous villages surround the lake, and their inhabitants are descendants of the K’iche’, Kaqchikel, and Tz’utujil Maya groups. In the afternoon, transfer back to Guatemala City for your overnight stay. End of services.
