What you can expect

  • We first walked into the Cape Ann area to explore Ruby's growth trajectory in Hearing Girl. The “Angela Rose” fishing boat at Rockport Wharf is particularly eye-catching—this real boat is the “screen incarnation” of Ruby's family. It is a must-see for film fans and carries the courage of a girl to pursue her dreams. Walking around, you can seem to hear the melody of Ruby practising singing in the sea breeze.
As the afternoon draws to a close, we head along the Gloucester coastline towards filming locations from Manchester by the Sea. The boundless seascape once mirrored the protagonist’s inner grief, while the streets of East Gloucester capture the quiet resilience and weathered charm of a coastal New England town. Around every corner, you might glimpse echoes of scenes where the protagonist rebuilt life with his nephew—sea winds carrying the town’s stories, softly merging the screen’s sorrows and joys with the coastal landscape.
