Your own licensed guide leads your group on this private day trip from Le Havre to Rouen, the capital of Normandy that Victor Hugo called the city of a hundred spires. Your driver stays with you all day in a private vehicle, so you explore at your own pace.
Your guide speaks English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, and the tour is private for 1 to 15 travellers: a van for up to 6 travellers, or a 16 seat coach for larger families, friends travelling together and cruise groups, so everyone stays together with the same guide all day.
Your day starts with pickup at the Le Havre cruise terminal, your hotel or the train station. The drive to Rouen takes about 1h10 along the Seine.
Your guide first leads you through the old town of half timbered houses: Notre Dame Cathedral, whose facade Monet painted more than 30 times and where the heart of Richard the Lionheart rests, the Gros Horloge astronomical clock, the Gothic Palais de Justice and the Aître Saint Maclou, a medieval plague cemetery carved with skulls and bones.
After lunch (not included, your guide recommends the best spots), you follow the trail of Joan of Arc: the tower where she was held prisoner, the Place du Vieux Marché where she was burned at the stake in 1431 and the modern Church of Saint Joan of Arc with its Renaissance stained glass windows. You then have free time to shop or visit a museum before meeting your driver.
