What you can expect

  • Watch a stunning, live adaptation of the renowned film musical, Liu San Jie, the life storey of a fairy-tale heroine. Watch hundreds of local people, most from nearby fishing villages, perform impressive scenes on the beautiful Li River, showcasing spectacular song, dance, colour, and culture.

    Take your seat on the banks of the Li River in an outdoor auditorium. The dramatic natural surroundings make it easy to see how Zhang Yimou, a renowned film director, was inspired to set his production here. Sit spellbound as the use of colour, music, song, and dance comes together in a dazzling fashion and the legend of Liu San Jie—a Zhuang girl dubbed “The Song Fairy”—is brought to life in front of your eyes.

    During the impressive 7-part play, marvel at the ability of 600 local people to act out the enchanting love storey between Liu San Jie and her fairytale sweetheart. As the play reaches its extravagant climax, savour the wonderful representation of Chinese culture captured so marvellously in Impression Liu San Jie.
