Shaanxi History Museum is China’s first large-scale national comprehensive modern museum and a true treasure house of Chang’an civilisation. It preserves over 370,000 cultural relics spanning 1.1 million years, from prehistoric times to the late Tang Dynasty. Its permanent exhibition is the core highlight, arranged in seven chronological galleries showcasing bronze ritual vessels of the Zhou Dynasty, Qin terracotta figures, and exquisite Tang Dynasty treasures such as silverware and the world-renowned Tang Sancai glazed pottery. Each artefact reflects the glory of the ancient capital of 13 dynasties and the historical prosperity of the Silk Road, revealing centuries of cultural exchange between China and the wider world.

Two premium special exhibitions are available as optional upgrades. Art in Gold: Golden Art of the Hellenistic Period presents hundreds of finely crafted gold artefacts from ancient Greek civilisation, highlighting exceptional Hellenistic goldsmith techniques and cross-cultural exchange across Eurasia. The Tang Dynasty Mural Painting Treasure Hall showcases rare original murals excavated from Tang royal tombs, depicting vivid scenes of court life, hunting, banquets, and aristocratic women in Tang-style makeup. These fragile masterpieces are strictly preserved and accessible only through special tickets, making them a rare viewing experience beyond the standard galleries.

Da Ci’en Temple and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, iconic Tang Buddhist landmarks closely associated with the monk Xuanzang. The towering pagoda was built to enshrine Buddhist scriptures he brought back from India via the Silk Road. Within the peaceful temple grounds, ancient cypress trees, grand halls, and stone carvings create a serene atmosphere away from the city’s bustle. At sunset, the nearby Giant Wild Goose Pagoda Musical Fountain—one of Asia’s largest musical fountain shows—presents a spectacular performance of water, light, and traditional Chinese music inspired by Tang aesthetics.

Tang Paradise, a vast Tang-themed royal garden inspired by the historical Furong Garden of the Tang Dynasty. The park features scenic lakes, grand palace-style architecture, cultural performances, traditional craft displays, and stunning nighttime light shows. Visitors can enjoy immersive Tang-style Dance performances, stroll along lantern-lit corridors, and experience the romance and grandeur of Chang’an at its peak.
