We will start at Plaza de Catalunya, which, covering an area of 30,000 square metres, is one of the most important squares in Barcelona. We will then walk to Las Ramblas, another famous street that stretches 1.2 km to the city's old port.
From here, we will go inside the Gothic Quarter and our guide will explain us the history of the old city of Barcelona, we will hear stories about the Emperor Augustus who first founded the city and we will see the remains of its roman wall. Through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter we will come to Nova Square or Cathedral Square. The Cathedral was built on the foundations of the early Paleochristian basilica and the later Romanesque cathedral and is Gothic style. Our guide will tell us who were St. Roque and Wilfredo the Hairy and how the flag of Catalonia came to have its current design. We will walk around the Plaza del Rei and Plaza del Pi until we reach the Plaza de Sant Jaume, the current administrative and political centre of the city. Here we find the town hall, and the Palau de la Generalitat.
If you choose the option, you can finish the tour drinking a bier with our guide in a local bar and tasting some typical pintxos.
