What you can expect

Step inside Otago Museum and journey through millions of years of history in a single afternoon. Wander through our Maritime Gallery where a towering whale skeleton hangs from the ceiling, then explore our Southern Land, Southern People Gallery where the bones of the extinct moa bring ancient New Zealand to life. Explore taonga Māori, Pacific treasures, and the storey of Otago's early settlers within our permanent galleries. Self-guided, and endlessly fascinating. Allow at least 90 minutes.

Tickets entitle the holder to unlimited re-entry to our permanent galleries on the date of redemption.
