What you can expect

  • Come for the pyramids. Leave remembering the people.

Your Teotihuacan journey begins at 8:10 AM in Roma Norte, where we’ll welcome you at Nomad House Café on Colima Street 392 with a complimentary coffee before hitting the road.

On our way to the Teotihuacan Pyramids, Mexico City slowly transforms before your eyes. As we travel through Indios Verdes and Ecatepec, your local guide will share stories about everyday life, areas and the cable-car system connecting communities across this enormous city.

Once in Teotihuacan, travel through centuries of history as we explore the ancient city and uncover the civilisations, traditions and ideas that shaped one of Mexico’s greatest archaeological sites.

Beyond the pyramids, meet the people.

Step inside the Temple of the Ancient Masters of Mural Art, a remarkable palace complex associated with Teotihuacan's mural tradition and archaeological research.

Then, meet the makers. Visit a local pottery family keeping ancient techniques alive from one generation to the next. Get your hands into the clay and create your own small piece while discovering the people and stories behind this living tradition.

From ancient history to the family table.

Around midday, just minutes from the pyramids, Erica welcomes us into her home for something you won’t find at the archaeological site: Teotihuacan through its flavours.

Share a meal inspired by Mexico's Indigenous and mestizo culinary traditions, prepared with ingredients such as heirloom corn, huitlacoche, nopal, xoconostle, mushrooms, mole, beans, local cheeses and seasonal ingredients. Adventurous travellers may also discover traditional edible insects such as chapulines, escamoles and maguey worms.

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

More than a lunch, it’s a chance to sit around a local table, share stories and experience the human side of Teotihuacan.

After lunch, we'll head back to Roma Norte. When operationally convenient, hotel or Airbnb drop-off may also be possible, particularly during the rainy season.

Small groups. Local hands. Ancient stories. One shared table.

Come for the pyramids. Leave remembering the people.
