What you can expect

  • Leave the city behind in 30 to 40 minutes. Our base is in Lo Barnechea, at the foot of the Andes, so you spend your time riding, not in traffic.

At a private family ranch, your guide gives a short safety briefing and matches you with a calm Chilean horse chosen for your height and weight. No riding experience is needed. Many of our guests are first-timers, and some are getting back in the saddle after decades.

The ride climbs for about 1.5 hours through sclerophyll forest, the native woodland of central Chile. As you gain height, the city opens up below and the high Andes rise ahead, with glacier-capped summits on the skyline. At the top, we stop for 30 to 45 minutes on a quiet plateau for a picnic of local cheeses, chocolate and fresh juice. Keep an eye on the sky: Andean condors often ride the thermals here.

The descent takes another 1.5 hours, with time to chat with your arriero (Chilean horseman) about horse culture and life in the mountains. With the wine option, we finish at the ranch with Chilean wine, cheese and charcuterie before heading back to your hotel.

This is always a private experience: only your group rides with us, and the pace adapts to you.
