Riga packs two completely different architectural worlds into a very small area. This 2-hour tour covers both, making it the right choice if you want the full picture of the city without splitting it across two separate tours.
You'll start in the Old Town, walking through the medieval streets that date back to the city's founding in 1201. Your local guide will take you past Town Hall Square, the Dome Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, the Swedish Gate and the House of the Blackheads, with the stories that make each one worth stopping at. You'll also pass through the quieter corners most visitors miss, the Convent Yard, St. John's Church and St. John's Yard, where the city feels furthest from the tourist trail.
From there the tour moves into the Art Nouveau side of the Old Town, where elaborate facades appear between the medieval buildings. Your guide will point out the decorative details most people walk past without noticing, the faces, figures and ornamentation that tell their own stories about the people who commissioned them and the era they were built in.
Two hours, two distinct worlds, one walk.
The group is kept small, with a maximum of 20 people. From 10 participants onwards, your guide uses a microphone and everyone gets an audio receiver, so you catch every word without having to crowd around.
