But today we will take you to the best hutongs beside beautiful waters. As you walk through the 300- to 700-year-old hutongs, you will experience real local life.

For a unique Beijing experience, ride through the ancient alleyways with a rickshaw puller. A rickshaw is a hooded tricycle once used as a taxi by nobles and wealthy merchants.

When President Nixon visited China with his wife in 1972, they enjoyed exploring the old alleyways beside the water.

You will also visit a local family, say ‘ni hao,’ chat with them, and see their traditional courtyard house, including the kitchen and living room.
