Along the way, you’ll pass notable landmarks such as the Agriculture Monument, the Juan Santamaría Monument (honouring our national hero), and the famous Mango Park in Alajuela. Your first stop is the renowned Doka Coffee Estate, nestled on the fertile slopes of the Poás Volcano. Here, you'll explore an authentic working coffee plantation and learn about the traditional methods used to grow, harvest, and roast one of Costa Rica’s most prized exports, the Golden Bean. This hands-on coffee tour gives you the opportunity to witness the process from bean to cup, followed by a chance to taste freshly brewed coffee in a beautiful natural setting. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious Costa Rican buffet lunch on the estate grounds.
Next, you’ll visit the charming town of Grecia, known for its peaceful atmosphere and iconic metal church, a unique architectural gem built entirely from prefabricated steel imported from Belgium. With its striking red exterior, high vaulted ceilings, and ornate stained-glass windows, this church is one of the most photographed in the country. The final stop is the colourful town of Sarchí, the birthplace of Costa Rican artisanship. Famous for its vibrant oxcarts (carretas), once used to transport coffee across the country, Sarchí is now home to numerous workshops and souvenir shops where local artists keep this beautiful tradition alive. Here, you’ll also see the world’s largest oxcart, officially recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. This stunning two-story wooden cart is nearly 45 feet (14 metres) long, weighs 4,400 lbs (2 tonnes), and took 70 days to complete, a masterpiece of traditional design and vibrant colour. This relaxing cultural tour offers an ideal blend of local heritage, artistry, and flavour, plus plenty of opportunities to shop for authentic Costa Rican souvenirs to take home.
