Although Chiang Rai is usually overlooked when brought side by side with its sister city Chiang Mai, don’t let its seemingly provincial atmosphere deter you from exploring the charming town rich in arts and culture. Originally the capital of the Mengrai Dynasty, the city was founded in the late 1200s and retains many of its Lanna influences in architecture, language, and cuisine.

Allow our passionate tour guide to impart titbits of history and culture in this full day exploration of Chiang Rai. This private tour allows you to choose the sights and activities you want to experience, without wasting time on those you’d rather skip.

At checkout, simply indicate the attractions you want to see, with a few additional sites so that our guide has several options to craft the best schedule for you based on geography and diversity.

If you don’t know where to start, we highly recommend the famous White and Blue Temples, now considered masterpieces in architecture and art. The Black House is thrilling in its own way as well: an eerie museum curated by one of Thailand’s famous artists. Then there’s the Golden Triangle – a marked area where Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos meet.
