What you can expect

Join us for a unique birdwatching and ecosystem discovery experience in the Santa Lucia Wetlands, one of the most valuable sites for biodiversity conservation in Uruguay.

This 86,517-hectare coastal salt marsh system, where the river meets the Río de la Plata, is a true sanctuary of biodiversity:
Almost half of the country's birds pass through here (like the kingfisher, herons, hawks, and tachurí).
It's home to mammals like the capybara, river dolphin, otter, and grey fox.
It's a refuge for crustaceans that act as bioengineers, helping the ecosystem's health.
Landscapes of native forests, grasslands, meadows, river islands, and beaches.

It's also a place steeped in cultural identity, where traditional trades like artisanal fishermen, reed cutters, and sand miners coexist, and where conservation is key to protecting water, wildlife, and local communities.

On this trip, we'll visit Playa Penino (San José), declared an Ecological Beach, and the wetlands of Santiago Vázquez (Montevideo), to learn about their nature, history, and environmental value.

✅ Includes: return transport, a specialised guide, a species checklist, and binocular loan.
