Overview

  • A train runs through a fully operating market eight times a day. Vendors pull their awnings aside, the locomotive passes at arm's length, and the market resumes — completely undisturbed. It has happened the same way, every single day, for over 100 years.

40 minutes away, flower-laden canal boats thread through the waterways of Damnoen Saduak — Thailand's most iconic floating market, built by royal command in 1866 on a 32-kilometre canal dug to connect the Gulf coast with the interior.

    • Train timing guaranteed. We know the schedule. You will always see the train.
    • Private longtail speedboat included (up to 4 pax, no pier charge, no surprise).
    • Your group only — private vehicle, no strangers, no 8-hotel pickup delays.
    • Maeklong first: we do both markets in the right order so you catch peak hours at both.
    • Back in Bangkok by 1:00–2:00 PM. Your afternoon is free.

Your guide will position you at the best spot for the train moment, point out what to eat at both markets.

Maeklong Railway Market (Talad Rom Hub)

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Maeklong Railway Market is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes from Bangkok. It is called 'Risky Market' because there is a train track that runs directly through the middle of the market. Literally within seconds of the train passing through the market vendors have to pull their goods, and themselves, out of the way. The precision timings and movements of everyone involved are fascinating to witness. Amphawa Weekend Evening Floating Markets is equally unique and special and well worth a visit!

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket included
30 km from Maeklong (~35 minutes by car). Damnoen Saduak is built on a 32-kilometre canal dug by royal command of King Rama IV in 1866. The canal network that grew from it — a maze of narrow waterways surrounded by orchards, flower farms, and floating vendors — has become one of the most photographed places in Southeast Asia. Your private longtail speedboat departs from the main pier and covers the full canal route — inner market waterways where vendor boats press alongside you, and outer canals where the orchards line the banks and the market's working-community character is visible beyond the tourist flow. The boat seats up to 4 passengers; your guide can ask the driver to slow or stop at any vendor boat for photos or purchases.
