Overview

  • This 6-day Big Five safari takes you through Northern Tanzania's most iconic wildlife destinations, including Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and a visit to a traditional Maasai village. Along the way, you will experience spectacular landscapes, diverse wildlife, rich cultural encounters, and excellent opportunities to spot Africa's famous Big Five.

    Our safaris are conducted in well-maintained 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles specially designed for safari adventures. Each vehicle features a pop-up roof for unobstructed wildlife viewing and photography, comfortable seating, large windows, charging ports for electronic devices, and a refrigerator to keep drinks cool throughout the journey. Every guest is guaranteed a window seat, ensuring an excellent viewing experience during game drives. The vehicles are regularly serviced and are perfectly suited for both paved roads and the remote tracks found within Tanzania's national parks.

Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania! After landing at Kilimanjaro Airport near Arusha, a Tansafari Tours representative will greet you at the airport and then drop you off at your hotel. Depending on your time of arrival in Tanzania, you can decide for yourself on the spot if you would like to receive a short safari briefing with your guide on the same day or the next morning. The rest of the day will be free for you to spend at your leisure. Enjoy relaxing at the hotel before embarking on all the exciting activities awaiting you the next day!

Day 2: Safari Adventure in Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Tarangire National Park for a full day of game drives. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and beautiful landscapes. As you explore different areas of the park, you may encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park before continuing your wildlife viewing. Later in the evening, you will drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Maasai Cultural Experience & Journey to Central Serengeti

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, your guide will drive you to a Maasai village, where you can learn about the Maasai people's culture, traditions, and daily way of life. The Maasai are a semi-nomadic community known for their livestock-keeping traditions. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by members of the village and have the opportunity to visit traditional homes and see handmade crafts and jewellery. Some villages may also have a school that visitors can see. After the visit, you will continue your journey to Serengeti National Park. The drive takes several hours and passes through different landscapes along the way. You will stop at Naabi Hill Gate, one of the main entrances to the park, before proceeding to your accommodation. Wildlife sightings are possible during the drive.

Day 4: A Full Day of Wildlife Viewing in Serengeti

Serengeti National Park

Today, you will spend a full day exploring Central Serengeti National Park through game drives across different areas of the park. The region is known for its vast plains and year-round wildlife viewing opportunities. You may encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and many other species during your safari. You will enjoy a picnic lunch during the day before continuing your game drives. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will depart from Serengeti National Park and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and is home to a wide variety of wildlife and bird species. During your game drive on the crater floor, you may have the opportunity to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, hippos, and, with some luck, the endangered black rhino. The crater is one of the best places in Tanzania to spot a diverse range of wildlife within a relatively small area. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is also unique because wildlife and Maasai communities coexist within the same protected landscape, allowing the Maasai to continue their traditional way of life. In the late afternoon, you will ascend from the crater and proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: End of Safari and Departure

Tanzania

After breakfast, you will depart from Karatu and drive back to Arusha. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, passing through local towns, villages, and the scenic landscapes of northern Tanzania. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to relax or enjoy lunch in Arusha before your transfer to the airport.
