What you can expect
Day 1: Arrival, Canoeing, Jungle & Night Walks
Meet at Cuyabeno River (8:00-9:00 am). After registration and a briefing, enjoy a two-hour canoe trip to the lodge, arriving around 1:30 pm for lunch and relaxation. At 4:30 pm, explore the flooded jungle by motor canoe, spotting sloths, pink dolphins, and other wildlife. Witness the sunset at Laguna Grande, swim, and return to camp for dinner, a welcome cocktail, and a night excursion to see caimans, snakes, and nocturnal birds.
Day 2: Ecological Rowing
Start with a 7:00 am breakfast, then head out at 8:00 am in paddle canoes to the Caimancocha trail. Enjoy a 3-hour hike in the primary forest, learning about the Amazon's ecology from your guide. Return to the lodge by 1:30 pm for lunch. At 4:30 pm, relax on a catamaran tour, observe animals like pink dolphins and monkeys, swim, and watch the sunset. After a 7:30 pm dinner, take a night walk to see arachnids, amphibians, and hopefully nocturnal reptiles.
Day 3: Visit to Puerto Bolivar Siona Community
Meet at 6:00 am at the Caiman Meeting Point, head to the Great Cayman Bird Tower for bird watching and sunrise with coffee. After an 8:00 am breakfast, depart at 9:00 am to the Siona Community of Puerto Bolivar (1.5 hours). A native woman will guide you to the yucca plantation and show how to prepare casabe. Meet one of the last Siona shamans for a cleansing ritual. Tour the area for snakes and other animals, visit the Ceibo tree, and return to the lodge for lunch. Swim in Laguna Grande, relax at the lodge, and at 5:00 pm, enjoy a final tour of Laguna Grande to see dolphins, swim, and watch the sunset. Special dinner at 7:30 pm with your guide, sharing jungle experiences and a farewell cocktail.
Day 4: Ecological Day in Lagoons and Jungle
After an 8:00 am breakfast, receive equipment (hammocks, water ponchos, boots) for a full-day adventure. Paddle to La Laguna Cananbueno, observing a variety of animals like monkeys, birds, and sloths. Take a 3-hour walk in the primary forest, learning about the Amazon's ecology. Enjoy a box lunch in the jungle, rest in hammocks, then return for a final tour in Laguna Grande to see dolphins and other wildlife. Swim, watch the sunset, and return to the lodge for a special 7:30 pm dinner and farewell cocktail.
Day 5: Bird Watching & Return
At 5:30 am, head to the Great Cayman Bird Tower for bird watching and a beautiful sunrise with coffee. After an 8:00 am breakfast at the lodge, prepare for the return journey at 9:30 am to the Cuyabeno Bridge, where you will have lunch.
