Macocha Abyss The Macocha Abyss offers visitors one of the most dramatic natural sights in the Moravian Karst. The abyss is 138 metres deep and up to 174 metres wide, making it the deepest of its kind in Central Europe. Visitors can admire its sheer vertical walls, underground chasms, and caves, all connected to the Punkva Caves. Viewing platforms provide panoramic vistas of the deep Punkva Gorge and the surrounding forested landscape. The legend of the human tragedy that gave Macocha its name still resonates today, as the abyss occasionally draws those who have lost hope. Its atmosphere is both awe-inspiring and mysterious, immersing visitors in a world of dramatic karst formations and underground secrets.

Balcarka Cave is one of the most picturesque karst caves in the Moravian Karst. It is famous for its rich stalactite decorations, including stalactites, stalagmites, and colourful cascades in a variety of shapes. Visitors follow a safely maintained path through narrow corridors and spacious domes, offering the chance to admire the cave’s fascinating geological formations. The site is also paleontologically significant, with bones of Quaternary mammals discovered here. In the operations building you will find refreshments, a souvenir shop and toilets. The cave’s mysterious and enchanting atmosphere draws visitors into an underground world full of history and natural beauty.

Olomouc (UNESCO) Holy Trinity Column (UNESCO) – A huge Baroque monument in the Upper Square, built in the 18th century and decorated with statues of saints and biblical figures. St. Wenceslas Cathedral – A Gothic cathedral with the tallest church tower in Moravia and the seat of the Olomouc archbishop. Town Hall and Astronomical Clock – A historic town hall with a unique astronomical clock reflecting the city’s medieval heritage. Upper and Lower Squares – Beautiful historic squares with fountains, churches and old townhouses.

Kroměříž (UNESCO) Archbishop’s Palace – A magnificent Baroque residence of the Olomouc archbishops with richly decorated halls and valuable art collections. Flower Garden (Květná zahrada) – A geometrically designed Baroque garden with colonnades, fountains and flower beds, considered one of the finest in Europe. Podzámecká Garden – A large landscaped park surrounding the palace, ideal for relaxing walks.

One of the highlights of our tour will be a visit to Lednice, a picturesque town at the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. Together, we will take a leisurely walk around the stunning Lednice Castle, built predominantly in the elegant Neo-Gothic style, featuring distinctive Tudor Revival details. The castle’s origins date back to the 13th century, originally constructed as a Renaissance hunting lodge before its 19th-century Neo-Gothic transformation. We will explore the beautifully landscaped gardens and greenhouses, enjoying views of exotic plants and tranquil ponds. From a distance, you will see the iconic Lednice Minaret, a striking Oriental-style tower rising above the park, as well as several Moorish-style water pavilions and reservoirs that add unique charm to the landscape. There will be opportunities to use bathrooms and visit nearby cafes or refreshment spots. This peaceful stroll offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and architectural beauty.

Mikulov Historic town, Mikulov castle and Holy Hill Discover the charming historic town of Mikulov, renowned for its Baroque and distinctive Renaissance architecture, rich Jewish heritage, and the magnificent Mikulov Castle. The town is notable for its location near the former Iron Curtain border. Stroll through the picturesque main square, past the chateau, and along quaint streets steeped in history. See the monumental Dietrichstein Tomb and the ruins of Kozí hrádek, a small medieval fortress that once served as a strategic lookout. Enjoy sweeping views of the sacred Holy Hill, known for its historic Way of the Cross. If open, climb the lookout tower of St. Wenceslas Church for a stunning panorama of the town and surrounding vineyards. Visit the local tourist information centre with bathrooms, refreshments, and the option to purchase excellent wines from local grape varieties. Free time is also available for photos, coffee, or simply soaking in the atmosphere.

Orphan's Castle Explore the romantic ruins of Sirotčí hrádek, a medieval castle dating back to the 13th century, perched atop a steep hill with views over the surrounding vineyards and countryside. Once a royal hunting lodge and later a fortress, the castle is steeped in legends and offers a glimpse into the region’s turbulent history. Take time to wander among the remains of fortress walls, towers, and courtyards while enjoying breathtaking vistas. Nearby, Stolová hora (Table Mountain) rises with its distinctive flat top, offering panoramic views and a striking silhouette that dominates the Pálava landscape. This area introduces the Pálava Hills, a protected region renowned for its limestone cliffs, vineyards, and diverse ecosystems, and recognised as a UNESCO biosphere reserve celebrated for its natural beauty and rich history.

Departure from Mikulov Begin your day early with a departure from Mikulov or Brno, heading south through Znojmo and the Retz border crossing. After approximately 2.5 hours, arrive in the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, a region of vineyards, rock formations, river meanders, and medieval castles.. 10:00 – 16:00 Wachau Valley (UNESCO, Austria) Dürnstein , Aggstein and Melk Abbey Make your first stop in Dürnstein, an iconic town with a baroque monastery, a blue-and-white tower, and the ruins of a castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned. Take a 20-30 minute walk up a forest path to Dürnstein Castle for fantastic views of the Danube, vineyards, and surrounding hills.

Conclude your trip in Melk, home to a monumental Benedictine monastery perched on a rocky outcrop above the Danube. From the monastery's terraces or the adjacent gardens, enjoy another view of the river and the entire region. A walk around the monastery is a sensory experience, with the scent of lavender, the sound of fountains, and the play of light on the golden domes. Continue along the Danube on a scenic road lined with vineyards and rock walls. Make a short stop at one of the wine terraces (e.g., in the village of Spitz or Weissenkirchen) to enjoy views of the Wachau from above. Next, visit the dramatically perched Aggstein Castle

Aggstein Castle, towering 300 metres above the river. Drive to the car park and then take a short walk to the castle, which offers one of the most breathtaking views of the meandering Danube.
