The location was very good and in general clean besides a drain issue which was rectified. However the sofa bed was in poor condition and some stains on the sheets which were gross.

Ideal location We selected this apartment for its location close to the centre of the old city and were not disappointed. From our window we could see into the Grand-Place itself. The apartment was quite simply furnished, but spacious, clean, and equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Access to the building and our flat was simple with the codes supplied by e-mail - no problems at all with that system; shops, restaurants, and bars are plentiful within short walking distance. It was also convenient to be within a few minutes walk of Brussels Central Station and the metro line at Bourse so that we could get around the city and nearby towns with the minimum of effort. We enjoyed our week in the city and would use this company again.

First of all we did not know it wasn’t a hotel. We arrived early in the rain, we could not get inside the building. We finally got a hold of someone from Smartflats they offered a lounge to leave our 6 suitcases. Me and my elderly parents has to drag our suitcases under the rain on a stone path to get to the lounge. My dad has a torn ligament in one shoulder which made me stress more. We were only going to stay for one night. We hired an Uber to take us back to the hotel. Once we got to the place it smelled terrible, we ordered an Uber for the next day at 6:30am to catch our next flight. we were ready to go at 6am still soar from pulling out suitcases the day before, but to our surprise the elevator was not working and we were on the 3rd floor. Six suitcases, with nobody to help us and we did not want to miss our flight. This was the most terrible experience we ever had. I think the idea of smartflats is okay, but they have to warn you before you book a place like this explaining what to expect if you arrive early or late and how unpersonalized it is. I will never book something like this again.

The hotel is placed at a great location - next to the Grand Place. However, a few things are lacking. There is no washing machine in the room, even though their guide book talks about it. No A/C. It was tolerable for my family in June. There was not much soap in the dispensers so we had to use our own.

This apartment was in the perfect location for our Brussels stay. We had plenty of room to spread out and the place had the right amount of charm. We could have used a set of pull out couch sheets. When requested they were out of extra linens. All in all a great place for the value.

We found the flat to be clean, spacious, well equipped with some exceptions. Access to the building and the flat was most difficult, with unclear instructions, poorly operating door access, poorly informed help desk person via phone. Person on phone could not find our reservation and kept us on phone without assistance. Other entering guests gave us lessons in access which they learned from other guests. Front door had to be pressured to operate, lift often became stuck between floors. Window shade missing in bedroom skylight, bulb missing from bedroom lamp.

The location was splendid. The ability to use SmartFlats Offices as a left-luggage facility was great. We were 3 people in a 2 bedroom flat - so it was spacious and airy. Flats 101 had a small terrace, which would be nice in summer. Downside - we had no functioning dishwasher and no alternate means of washing up because there was no plug or washing-up bowl. If we had wanted to cook this would have made the kitchen useless. We booked 2 double bedrooms - but were given a double and a twin. No-one wants a single bed when they have paid for a double! I complained about both of these issues - I got an “oh dear” response.......not great customer service. I really think they might have at least sent over a box of chocolates over as a sorry!

Great location near everything, beautiful historic buiding with balconies, cool modern decor. The only downside was being awoken at 6:00 am by really loud noise, it sounded like a nearby recycling center (trucks backing up and the sound of glass bottles). Overall, great experience, I would stay again.

Fantastic location with no service
Yes: It has a fantastic location and a good price. Quiet / not noisy at night. Beyond that: No service. Elevator was not working in the mornings (we suspect that the cleaning lady holds up the elevator, so if you're checking out in the morning, good luck bringing your bags down). EVERYONE's key codes got reset during your stay over Christmas (yes everyone's codes in the entire building). Room appears clean, but walls were actually dirty. Lack of cabinets and drawers. No where to hang / leave your clothes in the shower. The shower had no curtain so water kept spilling into the floor. Towels not replaced once despite a long stay.

The location is great just 2 blocks from the Grand Plaz The shower had no enclosure so water was splashing outside the shower and the bathroom ended up flooded. They changed the code for the entrance and did not email us so we were locked out at 2am on Christmas day.

Its a good location if you are in Brussels for tourism. The 'no humans on premise' get use to heavy doors with pin codes isn't my thing. My flat was 'worn'. Posted signs not to enter balcony as it was unsafe; peeled paint in kitchen etc. If you're a couple that wants to feel like you have an apt. while in Brussels this might be for you. As a short hotel stay 4 business around EU it wasn't my thing.

Excellent accomodation. We used the studio flat as a hotel-like stay for three nights. Really clean flat in terms of bedding/bathroom/kitchen/desk - cleaner than most four star hotels - not a spec of dust! However, the floor really needed a mop as fresh socks kept getting covered in dust within about 60 seconds. Heaters AND cooling fans were provided even in October in addition to normal wall-hung radiators. Excellent location - can see the Grand Palace Square from the room. Tram/metro/bus connections to most tourist locations are within a 5min walk at Bourse station and Central station is 10mins away. Public buses to take you to the EU area are 2min walk. Three mini-supermarkets are within 5min walk too. There is a elevator, but is quite old - but more importantly, it literally didnt work half the time so probably wouldn't reccomend for older people. I had to carry 33kg of luggage up four flights of stairs - luckily it was working when I checked-out! Safe and secure (important for apartments with no front desk) - double passcode entry to get into the building and then another passcode to get into your room. Overall it was excellent. Would come back again.

Great location!
It's a great location, just a couple of blocks away from the Grand-Place. Dozens of restaurants nearby. It can be noisy at times, but that expected by being in a busy downtown street. Also, about 4 blocks away from the train station. For people looking to stay for several days, it's very convenient to have a small kitchen there.

Good base to explore the city.
We had a flat on the first floor. Even though there was a busy street below us, the soundproofing was good. We managed to sleep well. Although a washing machine was advertised, it was not there when we stayed. Kitchen facilities were adequate. This is an Ikea designed flat meaning just about everything in it is from Ikea. Not necessarily a bad thing i suppose. We had issues with a broken shower head which was fixed promptly even though we checked in after 5pm. Conveniently located 2 minute walk to Grand Place. Not a luxurious apartment and not a room you would want to spend lots of time in but an adequate base for exploring the city.

Beware - great location but terrible service
Hotel is in great location and clean, but customer service is non-existent. Traveling with my mother so booked the one bed and sofa bed option. Apparently you have to put in a special request for two sets of bedding if you actually want sheets for the sofa bed (this is not stated anywhere). I contacted the customer support and they basically just told me that I was out of luck even though the cleaners with clean linens were in the building. At that point I found one of the carts with clean sheets and grabbed a set myself. When we left to got to dinner they entered our room without permission and actually took the sheets away. Most ridiculous hotel experience. Called back again and got the same response. Ended up stripping a sheet from the bed and sleeping with a sheet on the sofa. Beyond that the lift is terrible and can get stuck on the 6th floor so we had to walk 5 flights of stairs twice during our one night stay. Rooms are clean and the location is great, but I’d never stay at a smart flats again after this experience.

This property was within a 3 minute walk to the Grand Place. A truly amazing square where you could get anything you want especially chocolate. Highly recommended.

This was a great flat to stay at. I can't express enough how perfect the location was. You are a minute walk from the Grand Place, 10 minute walk from Brussels Central Station, 10 minute walk from the shopping district and 45-50 minute walk to Mini Europe, Atomium

Spacious apartment in a central location
The apartment was very spacious with high ceilings, large bedrooms and a big lounge / kitchen. It was pretty clean, and had large windows for ventilation in a hot August. The kitchen was well-equipped, although we didn't really use it. The fridge was huge, for plenty of cold drinks. There were 2 heavy doors secured by codes, and a small but serviceable elevator.

This apartment is located in a prime location, just two blocks from Grand Place, and around the corner from Manneken Pis. Plus, it is just about two blocks from the Police station. So, it felt very safe. There were plenty of shops and restaurants within an easy walking distance, and even a grocery store approximately 7 minutes away by foot. The train station is an easy 10-minute walk. There are two passcode controlled locked gates/doors between the street and the apartment door, which, again, helps to promote a sense of security. The apartment was attractive and very clean, aside from needing a good mopping, and the beds were comfortable. The toilet is in a separate room from the shower, which was very nice. The shower is large and has good water pressure, and the kitchen was plenty large for a short stay. Really, the facilities were comfortable. The wifi was great, until it went out for the last two days of the trip. This made it pretty hard to check in with the airline and manage work responsibilities while away. However, there are some notable cautions. First, they only provide one towel per person per week. Perhaps this is an American thing, but that simply is not sufficient and feels pretty unsanitary. Second, the elevator is unpredictable and very small. If you are accustomed to European elevators, it's manageable, but not if you have a physically limited person with you who cannot climb stairs. Third, it is NOT an easy walk from the lounge if you have luggage.
