Staff was friendly and nice and well you get what you paid for I only needs it for a night. Close to Ueno zoo/park I felt the area was a bit unsafe. And it was very noisy. Room was very tiny. Not enough outlets for electronics. Barely room for a lot of luggage. It was like an office space converted into a hotel room. Again good for a night but if you have a large family and lots of luggage I wouldn't recommend it.

Weird smell in the room. Hair all over the floor. Shower floor has black residue. We checked in at night, and the staff who checked us in were rather unprofessional. Only provided us with one key card. Bottle water only free on the first day and no boiler in room. Plus side, can borrow scale to weigh luggage at front desk. Some nice cafes nearby.

Budget friendly hotel close to Ueno station, no complaints. We shipped our luggage here and it arrived on time and the hotel held our luggage until we arrived. They also held our luggage after check out since our flight wasn’t until 5pm and checkout was at 11am.

My main complaint is the cleanliness of the room. Each and every wall was covered in food and other mystery stains giving it an uncomfortable atmostphere. Additionally being on a main street there is a lot of road traffic noise. Overall it has everything a hotel needs though so it gets some points for that.

The only dining options we found near the property few, and those required advanced booking for the few seats they had. Otherwise it was a convenient location and the hotel was clean, comfortable and a very good experience.

Always stay at the Ueno Hotel whenever in Tokyo. Nice surroundings and convenient. Amenities have deteriorated. No more black tea available, no more water kettle in room, staff, although friendly, are mainly foreign and know little about Tokyo. Results of inflation and not enough Japanese workers.

Poor hotel
One of the worst experience with this hotel. a little isolated with no restaurants around and room cleaning service was sub standard. no hot water heater in the room and one source was from the lobby but not replenish regularly. the bed was too low and only a very soft and worn out pillow provided that cause stiff neck.

The location of the hotel is not conducive and lack nice earning place. It’s too far away from Ueno station. Housekeeping is bad with missing towels and waste on the floor. There is no electric kettles in the room and very inconvenient to get hot water from the lobby. Bed is too low and only 1 pillow as a result most of us in this trip got stiff neck after 6 nights

Very friendly staff. Almost all the staff spoke English like a native speaker which is very helpful for a tourist. Breakfast option with your room is a must. Tried so many things I would have never tried before as the breakfast is a Japanese style. Rooms are tidy and comfortable. The shower I had was huge. Lawson right across the street. If you are looking for dining options, do not walk to the left if you are leaving the hotel, there is nothing there for blocks except a Dominoes pizza. Walk towards the Lawson until you come to the Indian restaurant and either eat there or make a right. A few short blocks is a main street with tons of options. I frequently used the back exit stairs to make the short two block walk to Ueno Station. I will definitely stay at the Ueno Hotel again when I go back to the area.

The room hadn't been deep cleaned in a while. The beds looked ok. My daugher got head lice. If that isn't enough, every once in a while there was a terrible smell in the room. And not a smell like someone had smoked in the room. A smell like there was a dead animal.

Room is very small. 12 sq meters doesn’t allow much space for suitcases. Price is high by US standards, but this is Japan. We avoided the breakfast offering, opting to go to Ueno Station restaurants instead. They charge 1000 yen per hour to extend past 11am checkout. Biggest plus is proximity to Kendrick Station to get train to Narita.

Ueno - first stop in Japan
Unique accommodation from an Australian perspective. Very small room but workable. Tasty fresh light brekkie each morning. Excellent wifi. Close to train station. Pump soap, shampoo and conditioner provided. Shower always hot. Beer vending machines on some floors.

Very pleasant location with Lawson diagonally across the street. Only a few minutes walk from JR ueno station. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Room was small but this is par for the course in Japan. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend staying.

About a 10 min walk from Narita express. A little less to subway/JR lines. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Spoke English. Shower had great water pressure. Rooms were a bit smaller than expected. We had 2 in our room and was sold as 3. Definitely would not want another person in the room. No place at all for a suitcase that wasn’t in the walkway. Did use the washer/dryer. Thankfully we started early. By 9pm there was a line waiting because the dryer takes minimum of 1.5 hours. Had to ask for ice. Vending machines on each floor selling beverages including beer.

This property is great for the value. Star courteous. Located short walk to express line to Narita airport. Shorter walk to Ueno train hub. Walk to market-type shopping streets. Room is small but manageable for two adults. QUEEN size bed is great. Get creative on storage. Hotel provides 4 hooks for clothes, no drawers. We used our empty suitcase like nightstands and stacked our clothes on top for easier access. We were there for 5 nights and used it as a hub to Disney, the museums, trip to modern Tokyo, etc. Hotel has 24hr coffee and tea. We didn’t do the breakfast option. Hotel stores our luggage until our flight in the evening. Great range of places to eat.

I like this hotel - it's a bargain in a good location. Reasonably-sized rooms by Japanese standards, and a front desk that speaks English well enough that I didn't have to rely on my lousy Japanese. Pricey breakfast for what you get, but quite convenient. Strange to see them throw out the non-breakfast seated guests at 7 a.m. sharp. The breakfast onigiri is particularly large and good. There isn't a smoking area anymore, so you may need to walk a bit to find a smoking spot if you're a smoker. Good reasonably priced laundry facilities. The common areas are very cold in the winter time. Overall, good solid accommodations at a fair price.

I booked this hotel because it was close to Ueno station . Con: 1. Room is small 2. Only has Shower option 3. AC/Heater needs to be cleaned (very dusty) 4. Room Wall needs a repaint Pro 1. Hotel Staff were amazing. Helped ship my luggage in advance to Airport. 2. Able to communicate easily in English 3. 5-7 min walk to Ueno station

I like the room. Very clean and has a spacious toilet and shower area. The bedroom itself is small. My friend and I stayed in the double beds, and we couldn’t open our suit cases. We had to put them up on our beds to open. Other than that, I like the inexpensive price.

Ueno Hotel
Property was clean, updated, affordable. Access from the Ueno Station-Iriya Gate is easy. Having a sit down area in the lobby with tables and self serve cold and hot water, ice, and coffee was a nice touch. Employees were friendly and professional.
