We are so sorry for your experience during your stay!! We can't say that, what happened during your stay, happens all the time to such a degree. Whatever cosmic world collided during your stay, we can't say. The staff heard your needs and did what they could for you in their power and availability. You did get a free room upgrade, upon changing rooms and another lovely lady at the front desk provided earplugs and a sound machine. This is an old building (115 years) and we are in a downtown area and it sounds like you are ultra light sleepers. The good news is we are getting ready for Phase 2 of renovations in Fall of 2024! This will bring upgrades to the windows in the rooms to triple pane and single heating/cooling units. This will help with the traffic noise tremendously. We would love to have you back after that takes place. Reach out to the hotel directly and we will make it worth your while.

We cannot apologise enough, if you did not receive the warm welcome we are known for. There has been a lot of work being done while you were here. The huge Holiday Art Stroll was Friday night, the day you departed, and decorating couldn't be done until Thursday because of the work on the tin ceiling. Thank you so much Johathan for the pictures, rating and review! You are right about renovations still being finished up in the lobby area, phase 2 probably won't start until next fall. We will change out windows and up grade the heating and cooling systems in the rooms. In 1989 and 1990 is when bathrooms were added. At that time there was 51 rooms scaled to 40 with personal bathrooms. Upgrades to the bathrooms are in the plans, but will take a bit to get done. We do have rooms with a bit more space in the bathroom and shower, just ask and we will see what we can do. We are looking forward to getting back to being able to make our quiche, with a hashbrown crust, and home baked goods. We hope you will visit us again to see all that has been done in the way of renovations!

We appreciate your review and rating, Kenneth! The next part of the renovations will be getting new triple pane windows and upgrades to the heating and cooling systems in the rooms. They didn't know about traffic and city "noises" when the building was opened in 1912. It was still horse and buggy to get you where you needed to go. We are pleased you otherwise enjoyed your stay and hope you will come back to stay with us again!

To give you a little insight, Beth. We are at the tail end of renovations in cooperation with the Kalispell Historical Society. While you were here, furniture was being moved around and the main front desk had it's marble top in place but there is much more to be done. With that in mind, we have kept things to a minimum as there is more work to be done by the contractors on the ceiling and through out the lobby. There will be other renovations and updates to rooms over the next couple of years, it is a historical building, so we have to take our time to get things in accordance to the Historical Societies specifications. We would love for you to stay at another time in the future to see all that has been done for your comfort and enjoyment.

Karen, we understand you may not have had quite the stay you were looking for and wish you would have clued us in to what we could have improved upon. We hope you will give us another try in the future, maybe at a different time of year. There are still things that will be worked on, so you may have a different experience next time around.

Ernest, we thank you for taking the time to rate and review us, we really appreciate you! You have the option for street parking from 3pm to 10am in the 2 hour spots on the street. They weren't worried about parking when the building was built, you tied your horses up and parked your wagon. Once we have our kitchen in working order, we will be back to making jour own quiche and other baked goods that we change with seasonal ingredients. We are happy you otherwise enjoyed your stay and hope you will decide to stay with us someother time.

Oh Maria, if you would have talked to someone at the front desk while you were here or elaborated here in your review, we could have tried to make your stay more comfortable for you. We do understand, a historic hotel is not for everyone and we can't help the placement of our building but we do aim to please. We can't stand not knowing what the issues were; as there is, always room for improvement and we are willing to put in the work for our guests comfort. We hope you other wise enjoyed the beautiful area and everything it has to offer.

The hotel definitely creaks and moans, it's no wonder, the floors were put in in 1910/1911. I'm sure some of those creaks will get taken care of as they update and restore the rooms, but they will never completely go away, it's just an old building. We are sorry it was so bother some to you, but hope that won't deter you from staying with us again. We can put you in a corner room, maybe that would help.

They didn't know when they opened in 1912 that Main St. would not only be full of autos but a highway as well. Horses were still the way to travel for many years, even after the hotel opened in 1912. In the 2nd phase of renovations, the windows, heating and cooling will be replaced to help with the outside noise. Julieta, thank you for the rating and review. Hotel rooms in the early 1900's were not very roomy. Something to keep in mind when booking a historic hotel. Also, since the bathrooms were added to the rooms in 1990, that took up some of the room space. All the rooms and bathrooms differ a little from one and another, so we do have rooms with a bit larger shower. There are also rooms that offer a little more floor space, you can book one of those rooms directly with the hotel, we don't have but a handful of those rooms. We encourage our guests to ask about such things when they are here. We will then try to get you what you are after, if we can. We hope you will consider staying with us at another time.

Not remodeled, but renovated in cooperation with the Historical Society of Kalispell. This is an old building and in need of some TLC, so it is a work in progress. We try to keep the rooms simple in their furnishings because they don't offer the square footage the modern hotels offer. The rooms will be worked on in the 2nd phase of the renovations. The rooms won't get bigger, but they will be better! New heating, cooling and triple pane tinted windows. We can't wait and hope you will try us again another time down the road, David.
