We stayed one night in a suite at the Castell. Suite was good, spacious, separate lounge area, lovely bathroom (incl bathrobes, slipperettes, towels, but no face cloths), small kitchen but only basically equipped, with only cups/mugs/glasses, lovely bed, but very average pillows, warm throughout (incl an electrical fire in lounge), dinner good in lovely restaurant/conservatory, but a little lacking atmosphere (perhaps some nice background music would be nice), very good breakfast, wide range of items to order, all staff very good, ample parking at the Castell, but central car park on a separate site if using the hotel and other accommodations. There are shuttle buggies to transport you around the site, which was efficiently run, with friendly drivers. Overall, I think we would have enjoyed being in the waterside hotel rather than in the castell half a mile up the hill. We had a snack lunch at the hotel in one of the small lounge areas, which was nice with lovely views over the estuary, but we didn't see the rooms. Overall, our stay was expensive, but it is obvious that the castell, hotel and village need a lot of money for upkeep to the good standard presented. A visit to Portmeirion is a nice experience, which we recommend.
