Romantic and peaceful stay
This is a cracking little gem of a hotel. All the staff are super friendly, the food is excellent and has a personal touch from the chef's. Rooms are very comfortable and sitting in the garden in front of the wood fire after dinner was so relaxing. The spa treatments are highly recommended. All in all a perfect place to stay. Will be back when we are back in the area. Thank you for a great stay.

Stayed for one night on a layover for flights at Tambo. Could not recommend this place more highly. Unique small boutique hotel in safe location with all the amenities. Ease of access to/from airport with friendly and helpful drivers - even helping with my luggage and walking me through check-in to ensure no problems before they left. On-site staff thorough and accommodating. Dinner and breakfast high quality food and service. Room clean and interesting.

I love this hotel. After 10 years of going to various hotels around the airport I finally found the one that I will return to time and again. The owners are amazing and treat you like old friends. The hotel is luxurious and makes you feel special.

Lovely staff; they couldn’t do enough to help. Picked us up late at night from train and thereafter looked after us superbly. This is a small boutique hotel which is an oasis of peace, close to the main airport. Highly recommended.

Decent alternative
Very convenient to airport. Room is somewhat small. Only access is via exterior. Not good if it rains. Food is mixed in quality. Did a very good game dish. Breakfasts were not very good.

Airport-Nähe, dabei ruhig und Afrika-Feeling
Das Hotel liegt in einem durch Wachen, Zaun, und Gate gesicherten Wohngebiet (residential area). Im abgesicherten Bereich fühlte ich mich sicher (viel sicherer die umliegende Gegend). Abholung vom Flughafen (kostenlos) und Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Wenige Zimmer: d.h. wenige Gäste und in meinem Fall ruhig. Kleiner Nachteil: Alle Zimmer sind ebenerdig (wenn ich richtig gesehen habe) und man kann von außen reinschauen, wenn der Vorhang offen ist. Nicht jedermanns Sache. Einrichtung ist in einem modernen Afrika-Stil. Ein bisschen Ferienstimmung kommt auf. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Für mich war das Hotel perfekt, weil ich einen Aufenthalt in Johannesburg vor dem Weiterflug hatte und in der Nähe des Flughafens bleiben wollte, aber nicht in das Spieler-"Paradies", wo viele der übrigen flughafennahen Hotels angesiedelt sind (schlechte Erfahrung). Ich würde es wieder buchen, um mich vor der Weiterreise vom Flug zu erholen. Die Hotelküche ist gut aber für südafrikanische Verhältnisse nicht billig (3 Gänge, 2 Gläser Wein: ca 500 R). Eine Küche für so wenig Personen ist aber auch aufwendig und das war dann ok. Ich war froh über das Angebot, daher kein Punktabzug.

Excellent stay!!!
I love African Rocks Hotel! I trusted the other reviews and they were right. The driver Kelvin who met us and the airport was wonderful, friendly and professional, the cook Christine was so welcoming and the food was excellent; it was like having a private chef! The hotel itself is lovely, serene, clean modern, and the perfect stop after a long transatlantic flight. Highly recommended.

Africian Rock
Stayed the evening before departing S.A. Found Africian Rock Hotel to be in a secure area; owners introduced themselves and welcomed us; all staff were obliging, helpful and friendly; great pickup/ drop off service for airport; Christine, the chef prepared an absolutely delicious 5 course meal. Would recommend.

Nice boutique hotel with good security
Our stay at the hotel for 2 nights was very pleasant. The staff was helpful and offered to shuttle us to a couple of different places. Unfortunately, we were under the impression that the shuttle service was complimentary because there was no mention of a cost associated with the service. It was a surprise to see some very expensive charges for the shuttle services. Other than that, our experiences were all positive.

Perfect place
We visited Johannesburg twice, and to be honest, there is not much to do there. Therefore, in our second visit, we decided, to be far from the center and relatively close to the airport. We chose ARH, which was just perfect - the room was huge and comfortable, the shower was great, the view and the pool area were amazing, and the food was perfect. If I'll come again to Johanesburg I will not think twice on which hotel to choose.

Little Paradise
I have been traveling through Johannesburg now for 16 months, and I must say this is by far the best hotel I have found so far when staying overnight during my travels. It is easily within 15 to 20 minutes from OR Tambo Airport, and the room was very spacious. What sets this hotel apart from all of the others is the service! The staff is by far the best I have come across in Joburg, they are attentive and are quick to assist you with any requests. The hotel is very small, private, clean, and you feel like you are at home. I have found my little paradise in Joburg. The location is in a secured community and I felt safe outside the hotel when going for a walk/run. If you want a private, peaceful and comfortable place to spend a few nights while transisting through Joburg, this is the Place!

un Hotel maravilloso
estuve 3 dias en el ARH y ha sido una experencia muy agradable. El personal es muy atento y como el Hotel solo tiene 9 habitaciones el trato es muy personal. Christine la cocinera cocina como un Masterchef y los Menus estan a muy bien precio para un hotel de esta categoria. El solomillo de vacuno que hace Christine no te lo olvidaras jamas. El Menu de 3 platos estaba a 20 Euros. Podras comer aun mas barato pero no mejor. Wifi gratis y unas habitaciones espectaculares con un personal muy atento pero sin molestar. Nos gusto muchisimo el ARH

Beautiful experience - more than a hotel!
We stayed at ARH having had an overnight flight into Jo'burg. The hotel was friendly and welcoming and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We ate in the restaurant - Christine the chef cooked us an excellent meal with recommended wines. We had the opportunity to sit outside by the fire enjoying a drink. The room was as seen on their website with lovely attention to detail making the whole stay fantastic. We would certainly choose to stay at ARH in the future and highly recommend this hotel.

WOW!!!!
This hotel caught my eye when I was looking for a simple overnight stay close to the airport. The pictures and the 5 star review rating were enough for me take a chance, given that it was only 1 night I was risking. The pictures and reviews do not do this place justice in my opinion.Wow, this place was amazing. I could not have been more impressed. The attention to details is what really stood out. The service and meals were all of an exceptionally high standard, and the personalised touches eg.the owner dropped by our table after dinner to check that everything was to our satisfaction. After speaking with them, it was clear why they were so successful in providing such an inviting haven for visitors. Their philosophy towards personal touch in customer service is embodied in all their staff. Thank you so much for making the last night of our trip so special, and unforgettable. We wil be back
