I am sorry but this review is meaningless, wolf cries wolf, this guest broke a table and a door, busted into a staff room at 230 am , drunk , so yes we where not happy , we are not the party place , staff had to monitor at late hours to make sure others where safe, though they kept mostly to the their room , crashing , and banging where heard until late hours , we space guest rooms so others where not disturbed , this guest also had many Specail requests fulfilled , left early , missing items on check out and we had to check on other guest safety while this guest was on site. We have had to ask guests like this to go on several occasions, they loose their reservation and their is no refund - a standard in the industry . Past guests we have had to ask to go, report back to us that they where sorry about their behavior .We have to watch out for other guests staying with us , and disrespectful behavior towards others is grounds for termination , just like the airlines . We have kids , grandparents, and folks wanting a no worries Place , that’s what we seek to uphold. if you drink heavy best to stay at a hotel near the bars . If you drink and can not maintain around others we recommend 12 step, and other programs to save your life, keep you out of prison or a dui and fatal crash . Covid has got so many of us stressed. This guest came in a very angry state with extra people she did not include in the reservation. We just provide lodging unhappy and angry people need to take time to slow down and enjoy life. Our place at a little more than a camp ground or at a shared hostel room price is resonable price and this before the average price of rooms went to double what this guest paid. She mislead us by booking our room for two and bringing extra people , she may be misleading you. tropics has creatures and if you store trash in your room like this guest did , making a trash tower you have invited them over for dinner. Our house rules no trash in the rooms to avoid unwanted guests. about delays with the deposits due to the high volume of bookings from many years in business, returning guests , new bookings we stay pretty busy . We do our best to keep up with all that is going on but at full capacity we need to focus on our guests on site, and duties on site. We have gotten new staff members to help. coffee yes we offer free kona coffee and we find the recycled jars keep the 40 a pound coffee fresher for our guests. We also use solar, wind power, recycle and upcycle too. older coffee maker and virgin guest house goer just cause something is older does not mean it is bad. A rustic or local rural Hawaiian house is the best way to get a taste of hawaian living . We are tucked away in a wild over grown dry area, with a great view from the upstairs units. We actually have fresh fruit to try , helpful hosts , and staffers. We are a farm/ house/ alternative stay. For a newer plastic stay,its best stay near the ocean in heavy heat with ocean level view, anniversary, where ac is a must, traffic is heavier, like at a condo or a hotel . Where we are at is a quieter experience , near coffee farms and is more temperate, and relaxing . I am off to the beach, remember to have fun

I am so glad this guest made a review . You know with covid this poor guest is an example of just how easy it is to be stressed in these times. though we reached to help this guest over 50 times, its covid times , and this made it hard for her understand basic details of her reservation. like what a deposit is( 5-8 requests to us about just that). Some 5-10 or more requests after 1030 pm every night made her fears grow worse as her fears and stress coupled with the 16 hour days to see it all driving , and her breif 3 day stay exploded . Stresscation make a vacation from the vacation even more important. To make matters even more interesting this guest was having hard time with the tropics and the during the most intense time here, the rainy season. To help everyone adapt easier ,We have house rules; to leave the windows open, close your door if you have fears and not leave trash in your room to attract insects. This guest did all those things and took pictures of it to show what happened. Algae can form in 20 minutes here in Hawaii, yes we are the home of blue green algae, spirulina, and other algae foods in Hawaii. Our record was someone from Alaska closed the windows and after their 3 day stay we had to throw away their shower curtain because they had a algae crop they where trying to grow. Ironically other than not understanding basic reservation this guest reported really liking our place during her stay, we helped carry her bags to her room when she arrived. We walked her to her room as she looked like she was going drop from exhaustion everyday from 16 hour drive till you drop approach. Had she only asked for help we could discovered her window closing and trash storage tower in the room and opened the windows for her, cleaned the damaged items for her, and helped her with her bags at the end of her stay. The only people that could have provided equal service to us would have been the cruise ship or a personal assistant or care home, and they would have had the same issues with her . Moral of the story don't try to do too so much on your trip, your host are there to help =ask them, you are in a different place in the world. Enjoy the tropics and how it is different, yes you can not pound a nail in with the fruit here and its not all perfect looking. , but maybe fresh ripe fruit hand picked off the tree fruit could rock your world . Maybe there is a fruit you have never tried . Maybe that smell is not mold but actually a tree of happyness herbal tree next to your room. That weird smell in the car is the passion fruit your host gave you to try. Maybe not everything that looks like a tomato tastes like a tomato in the tropics. Sernam cherries are sweet and sour and they are not a tomato or a pumkin. Ek trading in the loud bus or traffic for wild birds, or frogs could be an interesting change if you listen. 20 more than a campground here in hawaii we provide king sized beds , quiet location , a lot of free extras like high speed internet , unlimited calling , fresh fruit , eggs , tv , unique view , new fans , newly painted rooms . So when I see a lower score it just does not seem to take into account the value and the price . As we do not charge the 160 - 800 a night for a similar room common in this area

Most guests love our fresh fruit , big beds, helpful hosts, quiet location in town on the edge of the jungle. While Some folks prefer downtown, ac, condo or hotel or even a nontropical place. It’s best to plan ahead and choose what’s best for you and ask your freinds or partner what’s a match for them . This booker’s workers broke the house rules and where not respectful of other guests . We felt it was important to tell the booker and let him know about their conduct and that we can not have his workers stay with us again . We value our guests and we can not have guests that are disrespectful to other guests stay with us. So he told me he was upset and he would leave me a negative review. City like is better for some folks Some guests need air conditioning or the place to look just the same as any place , want to stay in a place near the bars, traffic , busy, noisy areas , dirty areas , view of the parking lot , drunk and homeless people hanging around are what are common to their own home city, so hotels and condos are a better fit for them . As the downtown make them feel more like home. Cost vs stay at your match Our responsible prices, 12 less than the bottom of fair pricing for our area attracts many people who have not budgeted for their preferred choice. The lesser value place can be 40-500 more than our place. However if you prefer ac , a place more city like it’s best to pay the extra amount and stay there

I am sorry we are an alternative quiet place with open air windows and we where not a fit for you. I am sorry you had some issues, had you just knocked or texted and given us a chance to fix them during your stay. we would have right away. We did fix the ones you mentioned. We are really sad this guest never got to try the neck and shoulder massage we offer or some of the tropical fruit we grow, we love to make stays and adventures in Hawaii more memorable Yes this guest is right if you want daily turn down service like at a hotel you need to stay at a hotel. Also if you have extra guests you need to report them when you book so you can take care of the payment then. Ac is at hotels too not here. Tropics and being near the ocean is a different place Yes it is Hawaii, the guest room while presented clean after you stay there dust can form , it only takes 20 minutes form. Had the guest only knocked or asked for cleaning , fresh towels, or what ever she needed we could have helped her. In the meantime we have included brooms and vacuum as guests had asked for these in the past. Its no wonder her room was unclean she let it go, and got it dirty as well. Cars It is important to not block off other cars, sometimes when guests are partying they forget when they come back , and we are there to help guests if another guest like this one blocks someone in. We don’t mean to be rude but we have to watch out for all guests and this can be inconvenient on the rare occasion . We try to assign a space if find a guest exhibits issues or needs as to prevent conflict. Yes our place is a guest house in the tropics. We are also a working farm, art and healing center. We are always working on the place, thats what you have to do in this area of the tropics or your place get swallowed by the jungle. Yes all the papaya , passion fruit, plumera flowers, gardenia , even the surrounding forest have a smell, its the wild rural area, many people rave about that , and come here just for the fresh air. After a rain it can have a deeper soil smell too . Tropics are a trip, check out our flowers, i put passion fruit in my car and my wife was like what is that wierd smell , its fruit , and she loves that fruit. Smell the flowers

Best to come during normal checkin time On early checkin the crew is working out in the hot sun . It is likely this guest did not scedule an appointment which is required, and showed up before checkin time . Workers where working and did not expect her. cars We have a rental car and work truck which we cover onsite as the sun and rain can destroy a car in 2 year goes the paint. shoes Many of the locals dont ware shoes or tops on hot days. or after working in the hot sun or coming back from a swim . Had the guest only made and appointment, or came during check in time they would have had a different experience. We ask our workers to ware shirts , but many people ware flip flops here in hawaii . Its Hawaii and thats how it is here. This guest might want to not come to hawaii or go to the beach if bare feet or flip flops are an issue. Lava or the reef can give you calisis or cuts on your feet too. yes our place offers a different experience and is not a hotel , and hotel dont offer the quieter rural Hawaiian experience we offer. it would be great to have you stay with us if you think we are a match for you, hope to see you in Hawaii some day

unfortunaley many people like this guest are not used to rip fruit , just need the hard green stuff. Some grumbled so there went the eggs, croissants, , jams , and fruit. Now we only offer the fruit and coffee now. This guest had not booked any spa services and was acting like she had . We stopped offering spa services like the ones she talked about because guests like this one thought the black sand pool was dirty , when it was actually salt water and cleaner and cost more to set up. Stopped doing the hot tub for a fee as some guests did not want to use it as it was very hot in those days, or want to use it without asking. Each room has a coffee machine so all she had to do was look for it. reasonable price vs couch surfing or camping fact vs fiction most of our guests say our prices are very reasonable. for example 20 more than a camp ground you can stay at our place, but we provide a private room with good bed , cooking area, towels, coffee and fresh fruit. 15 below the fair price says a third party OTA 2.5 miles not our place is 1 mile from the beach says google map yes there are many condo on the water or next to it but they do not have the view , breeze , fruit we offer. However if ac you need thats the place and you will need it down there as it is even more hotter 10 degrees hotter on average and ac will be needed down there. 91-97 vs 81-85 prices have been on average 40-140 more down below than up here. However they do not offer what we have up here , fruit, helpful host, on site staff and helpers, and the short walk to your car price also the camp ground charges 50 for two people and the hostile with shared room 75 , so the 30-40 a night is just misleading other guests.

Off season is a time for us to improve things and we do work on units when occupied. Its always a good idea to checkin with a property to see how they do things, Our Hot Pool, and Tubs, even breakfasts are subject to availability , reservation, additional charge, and mainteince and upgrades. Though many of our Guests feel that our place is a home away from home, our untamed edible garden, with our large lockable glass doors overlooking the ocean presents a wilder sustainable side of Hawaii that is of no value to someone that wants a sterile condo or pristine garden.
