Grand old house from 1899 which comes with a great story as provided by the hosts. They dont make houses like that anynore. Fantastic brekky included and highly recommened.

Heritage accommodation with comfortable room and bed. Terry is very helpful and shared history of homes original owner over a drink. Bar available. Beautiful sunsets and walkable distance to lovely restaurants Risby or 42 great spot for sunset watching.

A beautiful slice of history
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at beautiful Ormiston House. Our room was large and clean with a lovely view of the gardens. Breakfast was a more extensive than usual Continental. Really enjoyed learning about the house's history from the owner over a complimentary drink in the bar. A very easy walk into town made for a great location. Our thanks to Terry and his lovely wife.

This was a great find for us, a period property with history. Terry was amazing and could not do enough for us. Breakfast was perfect. Great location. We saw rabbits in the garden and beautiful blue wrens. Loved our 2 nights here.

Okay place. Nice location.
Okay place to stay for a night. It is rather tired looking, but comfortable. No specific reception area, one has to call the number on the door and is then received by someone. Which works fine. Continental breakfast was good.

Historic home converted to accommodation so it’s not perfect but it was quiet and comfortable. In room bath/shower lacked privacy but was adequate. Reception was friendly but there is no on-site service and we didn’t see the bar functioning at any time in our 2 day stay.

It is a very old house - the bath tap dripped and the caretaker said she knew about that but could not find a plumber. The basin is badly chipped and stained. The bar was not opened on Saturday. Pity - it has potential.

Old-style guesthouse. Comfortable room with adequate facilities. Bath in the bedroom was weird but worked ok. Breakfast was great! A bit on the expensive side for what it offered but it’s a very pretty old house!

Thus is a neglected old crumbling property in disrepair with misleading information on booking sites. Really expensive and lacking some basic things you’d expect for the price. Our room was dark, musty & cold. There was a huge water leak and crumbling plaster over the bedroom chimney. There was no explanation or apology for this. It’s missing basic things. Cups and saucers are provided in the room but theres no tea, coffee, milk or fridge. No one lives here full time, staff are difficult to find in the house. When you request tea for the room you get handed 4 tea bags! & then you have to follow up with another request for milk (in a flask). The room was dark, the TV tiny, there were dead insects stuck in the blinds and there were broken curtains. There was a communal fridge with a microwave on top with unlidded large black bin central to dining room. Gardens are over grown, house smells musty, there are cracks in the walls. The pictures on this website are old and the description of amenities doesn’t match the house. There’s no bathrobe, the garden view for our room was a broken fence weighted down with ivy. It’s supposed to have an operational bar & restaurant. Stay here as a last resort and check the recent feedback on the booking sites.

I love old places, but this place was unloved and ramshackle and the musty smell was awful. Had a metal framed bed with frayed cord on the electric blankets, flat screen TV was an old computer screen, endless multi boxes for plugs which felt a bit unsafe. Front door locked sent to side door which the guy took quite a while to come too. Property overgrown with broken furniture. Non of this is major apart from the possibility of electrocution, if it was priced appropriately. But in all our travels it was the most expensive. Extremely disappointing

Wonderful stay in this little village. The owner of the establishment is extremely virtuous and attentive. Continental breakfast will keep you going all day. Travel instructions provided by owner are very detailed and well worth following.

Awesome filled
We were only there for one night but it was absolutely awesome. Terry the owner was so informative and knowledgeable. The breakfast was great. I would definitely recommend staying in this beautiful old historic house.

Special place
We ate in their restaurant the night we arrived. It was not a meal, it was an experience. I have never seen such a unique, creative menu. One of the more expensive meals I have had anywhere in the world, but well worth it.
