"This hotel makes a Travelodge look like The Dorchester. While the ladies at reception and the cleaner were absolutely lovely and did their best to help, this is unfortunately the worst hotel I have stayed in within the UK. The first room I was allocated had an overwhelming sewage smell. The odour was so strong that I walked straight back out and returned to reception. "The Arden is hard to find if your sat nav takes you the old way where they have built new roads, but once you are there, the staff are very friendly and the room is always clean. Big menu choice in bar and restaurant. Spacious hotel with nice atmosphere"

"Great modern hotel in central Birmingham. Has a small spa on site which you can use at a discounted rate as a guest. Was surprised to see there wasn’t a pool there but other facilities you can use. You can’t prebook the spa which is a shame, only hope there’s availability on the day. We had an issue with the drainage in our room, however once notified, staff were efficient at relocating and upgrading us for the inconvenience. I found staff to be very polite and attentive. "Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and great facilities. Only stayed for one night but enjoyed a quick swim in the pool and had a lovely evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant. Bedroom was a good size with comfy bed and everything needed for an overnight stay. The only thing that I think could be improved is the check in. "Convenient..warm when cold ..clean bathroom..quiet rooms"

"The inside of the room was lovely with new technology for door entry, lighting etc. and we loved the wildlife and farm animals. however the outside of the property was a total mess. It looked like lots of the buildings were falling to bits and the grounds were overgrown and not well kept the restaurant was permanently closed and the shared microwave in the corridor worked but there was no cutlery"

"We had reserved two rooms. One of the rooms had such an awful, musty smell that it hit you as soon as you opened the door. We notified reception and were given a bottle of air freshener. Sprayed half a bottle in the room and went out to dinner. When we came back smell was still there and still as pungent. TV was also not working so we called reception again. "Fabulous grand manor that’s been updated and converted. Good use of glass for atrium areas that feel warm. They take good pride in their food and for good reason - everything was absolutely delicious and at the highest levels, quite shocking for such a small place. But book your seating right away and early - limited seating. "
