location in the center of Vail and distance to Gondola one is unbeatable, place is a classic!, management do their best to upkeep the property but its age shows, reminded of European hotels. a place to enjoy for sure.

For skiers, the proximity to Gondola One is a definite advantage. It takes ten-fifteen minutes if walking in ski boots. There is a convenient outdoor ski locker and an elevator available. The staff was friendly. The complimentary continental breakfast was quite adequate and included bagels, cereal, HB eggs, toast, fruits, juices, (weak) coffee, cheese slices, sweet rolls, and some other stuff I can't remember. On the downside they do not permit early check-in requests but will watch your luggage until check-in time. For skiers who want to be in the Gondola One line early, this is not the place if you intend to have the complimentary breakfast. They don't serve it until 7:30 (no exceptions). We would get all our ski stuff ready to put on before breakfast, eat fast, then rush to get dressed and trek to the gondola. With all that rushing we could get there at 8:30 when the lifts started. By that time there was as long line during the week. I can only imagine how bad it must be on weekends... Every night there is music playing outside that may keep you awake, even with the provided free earplugs. The drapes permit some light to come through. I might consider rooming here again but I would be sure to consider all available options in the area too.

The Gasthof Gramshammer has great character, a true fixture in Vail culture. The staff are great and the location could not be better.

Good but not not great!
Location perfect, right in the middle of Vail. The rooms were dated but acceptable. Downside; the shower water pressure was bad with water alternating from scalding to freezing continuously while in the shower, the room heating could not be turned down below suffocating and so we had to have the balcony door open all the time to allow cold air into the room, thirdly not withstanding that Pepe’s resturant was excellent for dinner the breakfast offering provided was continental breakfast as advertised but not anywhere near the level or options we should expect when the restaurant is so good for other meals, finally the coffee was like dirty water and look more like tea with no taste. We had to go outside every day to find coffee and bring back to room. Overall good but not great!

Rooms may be older but they’re cozy and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the floors were heated in the bathroom (loved that)! Great customer service. The TVs could use updating with more services (Netflix, other streaming apps). Would have loved to have a mini fridge and small microwave for our leftovers and to store snacks since food is expensive in Vail. Overall it was a lovely, quaint hotel with an attached restaurant/bar (with good food)! Everything is in walking distance.

What a lovely hotel, rich in Vail history and old world charm. Located in the center of Vail, steps to the ski lifts and Vail transportation center. Wonderful Austrian restaurant and bar on site.

Great location and that is where it ends. The heating in our room was broken and the room was about 85 degrees. When I asked to change room, I was offered a more expensive room, that didn’t have this problem which should have been offered at no additional charge, but wasn’t. HArdly slept all night, so hot, even with the door to the balcony wide open. Coffee pot didn’t work, and the room had an odd smell

The hotel is rather old, and as such, it is poorly designed. There is a lot of walking up and down stairs because the elevator stops on landing between the hotel's various floors. This makes it difficult for guests that are carrying large suitcases to get off the elevator and into their rooms. But what a great location of the hotel, right on the crossroads of the pedestrian walkways in town. And what a helpful staff. Another problem is the very limited parking on premises that the hotel has. But still I would stay there again, and again and again.

Three Things
While everything was primarily quite good, we were disappointed not to find robes in the hot tub area and the sauna not on. Also several of the breakfast items were empty on our second day. Details really do make a difference.
