We had lots of ants in our studio hotel room and it just wasn’t very clean. Ants were in all over the bathroom, kitchen, coming out of outlets, on the table and sometimes on the bed. On top of that our curtains weren’t the same size and bright lights kept on coming through which didn’t make for a very dark sleeping room when we closed the curtains. Kitchen utensils in the studio were clearly dirty before we used them. Our hotel key kept on locking us out. Most of our transportation kept going through the holiday Inn so never directly to Irazú.. even though it was just next door and tell us pick up would be at Irazu.. it would change to Holiday Inn

There was NO hot water!!! This property was very run down. It previously was a Best Western and then Holiday Inn. It now shares the building and facilities (to some extent) with the Holiday Inn on site. It may cost a little more but you are best reserving a room at the Holiday Inn. The older building with rooms that face the pool and Holiday Inn rooms are now a different hotel (Irazu Hotel and Studios).

Clean room and friendly staff. Share the same garden / pool with the nearby Holiday Inn. 5 min walk to the grocery. Our main complain is that there should be a swipe-in door before accessing rooms to stop non-customers & (lots of) mosquitos!

Such a beautiful facility! It was beautifully designed, clean and very safe! I did not particularly care for the hotel's breakfast options, but the Dennys next door for absolutely amazing!!! There's also a sports bar connected to the hotel that serves very good lunch and dinner! I will definitely be returning in the future.

This was the worst hotel ive ever stayed at in CR. The sign is a banner on a fence making it hard to find. once in the parking lot there is no signage to where the lobby is. out of all my trips to CR ive never been asked for every persons passport at checkin. we had a group of 22 and everyone had to pull their passports out, they wrote down names and # for each guest which i wasnt very comfortable with. they finally give us our keys, the rooms were dirty and dark. our balcony door did not close! we had to rig it to close it because bugs were flying in. we asked for more towels since they only left us 2 and they came in while we were picking up dinner downstairs but my son was in the shower. he heard the door open thought it was us and after several minutes a guy knocked on the bathroom door!!! my son was completely freaked out especially since the guy didnt even leave right away, he still waited a few minutes inside the room!!! my sister was given someone else's room and when the key didnt work she went back to the front desk only to have them escort her back insisting she wasnt using the key card correctly, as he was trying to force his way into the room that had the safety pin on a gentleman who was sleeping in his room appeared, very startled that someone was trying to get in his room. my sister was embarassed and apologized for their mistake. how does a hotel make a mistake like that?! how do you not know what rooms are occupied? never again, please stay anywhere else!

This hotel is old! The room we stayed had a moldy smell, internet was spotty, furniture is old and the bed was super uncomfortable. Only upside is that the room had a patio area overlooking the swimming pool. This hotel is a 2 star at best.

Both hotels share some common areas, however they are independent properties, in separate buildings, each with its own standard. We are sorry if this may caused the misunderstanding. I have no idea why this property is rated so highly. I have been to many hotels in San Jose, and this wouldnt even fall in the top 25. The rooms are extremely dated, the entrance is hidden at the back near the parking lot, and the reception/breakfast is less than adequate. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn next door, which they share the pool with, and it is much much better at the same price.
