We arrived at this hotel fairly late in the evening, as a night-stop on a journey from the Algarve to Santander. The most important things for us were secure parking (our car was full of luggage, which would have taken an hour to unpack), and a decent room. The hotel itself is very well looked after. The staff were all attentive and helpful, but the room we were given was far too hot, and couldn't be cooled down. The room we eventually ended up in was fine, although there was quite a bit of noise in the corridor during the night, due to some other guests, not the hotel staff. We asked about having dinner in the old town, and were given very good advice, and a taxi was ordered for us. The taxi rates from the hotel to the old town are very reasonable, which is just as well, as the one thing we didn't like was the distance from the hotel to the night-life in Old Salamanca. It's just too far to walk. As a stop-over, the hotel was more than adequate, and in the summer months there is an outdoor swimming pool, so we may come back to this hotel. In any case, we will be coming back to explore Salamanca, as it is a real jewel of historic architecture, with a vibrant night-life.
