I enjoyed my overnight stay in the Mercure in Oxford as was given a warm welcome, all queries answered and the staff I came into contact with were exemplary. I enjoyed staying in the original house of Francis Howard Binkerton. My only slight criticism was the grounds could benefit from a tidier appearance . I would recommend this hotel as I really enjoyed my stay . Please pass on my thanks.

The property is located in a residential area; so, it's very quiet, but not exactly walking distance to town center. That said, it's a short walk to bus stop, or simply get a taxi, which will be a short ride. Very attentive staff will make you feel at home.

Room was nice and clean but due to being put in the older building down the back the room was smaller than expected given we paid for a privilege room. The room did still have the other perks but I found the pictures on Expedia to be a little misleading if they consider this room to be part of the tier.

Lovely hotel. We paid a little extra for a larger room with king size bed and were delighted with it. Staff friendly and location excellent for getting in and out of the city centre.

Our two day stay for our daughter’s wedding has been as close to perfection as we could possibly get… the staff at this lovely hotel are beyond excellent, two members of staff in particular shone… John on reception as well as many other duties and JASMINE who truly helped to make our weekend so memorable, Jasmine is a star, in my humble opinion, the heart of this hotel. I would be proud to have her as my daughter. The food was of Michelin standard presented by high quality staff with dignity and professionalism of the highest order. Our wedding experience was amazing and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who may be looking for a venue for their own wedding. Thank you for looking after my daughter and new son in law. Grandpa Chris.

Our stay at the Mercure was overall very positive. We travelled from north devon to visit a family member at the Churchill hospital. We arrived at 1pm on Sunday and didnt expect to check in, but asked in the bar if we could have a quick sandwich before driving to the hospital. we were told that we could only have a roast dinner or chips. When asked, staff were told by chef that this was not possible. This was not a good first impression. Apart from this everything was excellent and all staff were polite, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

slow start, good finish.
over all a good hotel to stay in , we got of to a bumpy start, as the room we were givin on arrival did not match up to the type we had booked on line, also the room was not cleaned to a high standard, after speaking with hotel staff were moved to a different room, this was a better room and in a quiet part of the hotel, the rest of our stay at the hotel was a good experience, just to add this was our second stay at this hotel, and we booked the hotel again because of our first experience. the breakfast is very good and you can have as much as you want, the staff are fantastic, if you plan on going in to oxford city centre , it is a good 20 minutes to walk , but could pop on the bus or drive in good car parking around the city, it's a good location for visting surrounding area's, Stratford and M.K. are only about one hour away. if you plan on having an evening meal in the hotel restaurant we felt that choice was limited and prices are high.

The hotel is clean and well decorated! Room design is good! But, no slipper and toothbrush/tooth paste provided! I can never connected to reception by the phone in room (seems connection problem)! So, I need to went to the reception to ask! I was told that slipper is not provided for the room! I am quite surprised for the room over £150 per night! But, I think it may be for Green! But, when I want to brush my teeth, I found not toothbrush and toothpaste provided! It again shocked me! I went to reception again and asked is it not included too! Luckily, the answer is no! I finally got a pack of toothpaste and toothbrush! Save my life!

Beautifully updated hotel just two blocks from the bus line or a less than 10£ cab. Beautiful residential neighborhood away from the noisy bars and restaurants. Great trade offs for more pricey options in city center.

A lovely hotel. John on reception was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel was comfortable and relaxing. The room was comfortable but unfortunately for me with low vision, the lighting was frustratingly poor. I also found the wet room mean't you needed to put shoes on to re-enter each time after showering. These two minor points might not be an issue for others so I'd still recommend the hotel.

Lovely weekend getaway!
The hotel is beautiful with a real Oxford theming. We stayed in a privilege room in the Elm building (separate from the main hotel building) which was spacious and well designed. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the food was lovely. Good portion sizes and everything was hot and tasty. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food and the server was friendly and helpful.

Disappointing break
No receptionist on arrival. No storage space to speak of in large bedroom. Was informed this was a feature of it being a ‘boutique’ hotel! What’s that about? View of outside staircase and wall from room. Limited menu for dinner which was served in lounge area and not dining room, which was only used for breakfast! Continental hotels manage to cope with the ‘breakfast bar’ set up for dinners, I don’t understand why this wasn’t possible here! This led to fish aroma in the lounge in the evening. They also seem to have uncovered a new Oxford college amongst their decorations! Staff were very pleasant.

Short but sweet
We enjoyed our one night stay here. The location is great, a nice quiet picturesque area with central oxford walking distance down the river. We checked in quite late so were given a basement room, which was fine except there were only 2 bedside lights so we found it quite dark, but for one night this wasnt a big problem. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable so for one night that was all we needed! I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting Oxford.

Paid for bigger room got smaller room.
We booked, chose and PAID for much bigger room which we were given but it was stuffy, thick dusty smell . When it was changed we were given much smaller room and the price was never reduced, which is disappointing.

A lovely hotel, a bit special with relaxing decor. Comfortable room and bed which was spotless. Staff were really friendly, and helpful. The only negative thing was service in the restaurant especially at breakfast.
