The headline is that I had the best vacation in New York I could've hoped for and the Wellington Hotel was a pivotal part of that experience.
The beds are exceptionally comfortable, my friend and I did about 46 miles of walking over the course of our stay and the bliss of diving into those beds at the end of each day never got old. Absolute 10/10 on that point.
The staff were fantastic and friendly as well, I couldn't fault them at all and the location of the Hotel is absolutely perfect. A short walk from Central Park and Times Square with easy metro station access.
The Hotel itself felt a little worn and dated, the style of the hotel is old fashioned which I loved about it but things like loose door handles, intermittently working air conditioner, loose taps in the bathrooms all gave the impression the Hotel needed a little TLC. They are doing some extensive refurbishment in the lobby though so that might already be in the works.
Another change I think would go along way would be to modernise the TV set-up. A lot of places have smart TV's now-a-days that you can cast too or use to watch Youtube/Netflix so having such a basic cable set-up with limited channels was a drawback, especially as some of the hotels we considered had that level of set-up for the same price.
Overall I really loved the Hotel and hope to return someday, but think that there's some small touches/around the edges work that could really level up the whole experience.
