I chose this hotel for the parking, which was good (it's own lot, well-lit). We walked a block to St. Charles St. and there were a few restaurants, a Walgreens, Burger King within a few blocks, and we felt safe walking there at night. After a few blocks we weren't sure if it was safe to go farther so we didn't. We took the trolley car to the French Quarter, which was convenient. Our room was on the 2nd floor and had 2 queen beds, but the 2nd one was in a loft and there was a narrow metal staircase to access it. Being older, I hoped I wasn't taking my life in my hands using it to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I hung on tightly and used my phone for light and it worked out. It was the one hotel (in 8 during the trip) in which the bed wasn't so hard, so that pleased me since I prefer a softer bed. Breakfast is limited, but that didn't bother me. I can live without biscuits & gravy.
