First, we were supposed to pay at the hotel, but our card was charged for 1/2 the stay right after the booking. The rate was much higher than published by hotels.com. The difference was explained by resort charges, cleaning charges, etc... You have to check in at a rental office on the other side of town, then check in again at the condo for parking passes (another fee) then check out at the rental office. The location was at the end of the seawall, and away from the busiest parts, which we liked, but the condo was not as pictured - decorated in yard-sale style, no matching furniture, curtains did not match, no bed in the bedroom - just a bed frame, mismatched utensils and dishes and the smallest coffee maker I have ever seen. The cable was out, as were several lights in the unit, bedding was old and should be replaced, and nothing matched. Just not at all what you would expect from a rental unit. There was a weird smell - like mold or mildew; we assumed it would air out, but it did not. We reported the multiple problems, and were told a service man would come to fix it, the cable was on and a 2 lights worked when we returned, but the heater was turned up to 80 and the patio door was open I assume to eliminate the horrible smell in the unit. The management company apparently knew about the smell from previous renters, and said after we left they would probably shut that unit down, but we needed to stay there. Not my idea of a relaxing beach getaway by any means.
