Home from home.
We arrived and Hilary greeted us at the door. Hilary and Graham make you feel very welcome. Church Villa is cozy and comfortable. We stayed for three nights and it was like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers. Breakfast was excellent. We are already planning our next stay.

A Joy to Stay There
We were only there for one evening, but Hilary and Graham were great hosts. They made us feel welcome and it was nice to talk with another couple as well travelled as us. We highly recommend their B&B.

Solo 4 night mini-break.
Small but comfortable room, the bed was great! Old house so very creaky and uneven floor but that kind of added to the charm. The garden is lovely with sitting areas and the breakfast room led straight out there. Situated ideally for Chesterfield town and the Peak District. I would return to Church Villa B&B if I visit this area again.

An amazing ‘home from home’.
Absolutely fantastic stay. The welcome was warm and friendly. We were treated as old friends even though we had never met before. Facilities and food were all excellent. We will be returning next year for a longer stay.

Stay here! Excellent location and amenities!
We have limited experience with B&Bs because much of our travel is corporate travel and hotels are the standard. Our experience here was as good or better than many hotels. The proprietors are friendly, knowledgable and helpful, the breakfast was excellent, and the building was just what we had hoped for: hundreds of years old but with modern conveniences. We would happily stay again. We found the location to be very convenient for the Peaks District, Chatsworth, Bolsover Castle, and Hardwick Hall.

Nice place and lovely hosts. It was an old house and I didn't sleep too well which I think was due to the slant of the floor and the bed then being on a pitch. The owners were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful.

I liked the conservatory where whilst we enjoyed an excellent breakfast we could enjoy the garden and the birds using the feeders. It was a bit cool for me in the sitting room but would not put me off staying again with our very welcoming hosts.

Thought it was going to be good but not THAT good!
From the moment I received a text, from Hilary and Graham, 10 days before my one night stay (giving the most friendly instructions and directions, I thought I might be in for an exceptional stay. I wasnt wrong! Church Villa isnt just a B&B. It is a beautiful house, with wonderful, attentive hosts, a comfortable bedroom (note: the en suite bathroom is superbly appointed with top quality fittings; including a "high level" loo). I was invited to sit with other guests in the sitting room in front of a roaring log fire. The breakfast, what can I say? Me: "I'd like an omelette please". Graham: "would you like it plain, with cheese, with mushrooms or with bacon?" My omelette with cheese was cooked to perfection. The best I have ever tasted! I was staying whilst on a photographic shoot as Santa. Ive already been rebooked for next year. So, Hilary and Graham, book me in next year!

5* hotel standards in a B&B
Hilary and Graham get it right from the moment that you arrive. A welcome as you leave the car, the offer of tea or coffee, a lovely guest sitting room with a log fire and taking the trouble to actually sit and talk to you while you enjoy your drink. The room was very comfortable with everything provided that you could possibly need. Breakfast in The Vine Room was outstanding in terms of both choice and quality. This will be my default booking whenever I need accommodation in the area. Thank you both for your hospitality.

Ein sehr altes Haus, sehr gemütliches Zimmer, mit einem sehr kleinen, aber voll funktionstüchigen Bad mit Dusche. Nichts für Gehbehinderte, steile Treppe und viele Stufen. Alles super-sauber und liebevoll ausgestattet. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, ein sehr gutes English breakfast und ein schöner Garten zum ausruhen - prima ! Sehr empfehlenswert.

Cottage accommodation with very welcoming hosts.
Hillary and Graham went to so much trouble to make our stay enjoyable and they succeeded. The accommodation was quaint but very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We sat in their lovely garden and relaxed.... just what we needed!

Beautiful sixteenth century cottage in lovely gardens. Breakfast was bountiful and tasty, the bread still warm from the baking. The only issue for some visitors would be the restricted space in the shower room and toilet due to the nature of the building which also has a steep and narrow staircase to the guest rooms.

When we arrived the booking agency had not told the B&B that we booked a twin room and it was set up as a double, this was quickly rectified by the owner and from then on we had a good stay, the only negative was that the floor squeaked when we moved round because it was an old building.

Beautiful cottage with perfect hosts. Recommend.
Made to feel so at home straight away. Hilary and Graham are the perfect hosts. So helpful in recommending places to visit...even sourcing a local Burns night celebrations for us. The room was clean and cosy and attended to everyday. The lounge area was home from home. The fire was lit every night. The breakfasts were fabulous and Hilary made us a great cheese board on our first night, that lasted us throughout our stay as there is a very convenient guest fridge available in the dining room. There is lots to see and do in the local area, the only disappointment being that most NT houses are not open at this time of year. Oh well...looks like we'll have to return!

Quiet, comfortable, friendly B&B handy for M1
Excellent place to stay. Stayed for one night en route to Portsmouth from Lothians. Not far from M1. Quiet, lovely B & B with friendly, attentive hosts. Coffee on arrival was very welcome as was advice on places to eat and info on how to get there. Goodbye breakfast too. Will stay here again when I make a similar trip.

Peak District stop over
Well located close to the M1 but in a quiet village. Close to Peak District and Chesterfield. Stayed here one night to break a long journey and see the Peak District. Quaint, characterful 400 years old cottage. Comfortable rooms and cosy lounge to sit. Hillary and Graham were very friendly and helpful and provided a superb breakfast in the morning.

Really very good.......
Lovely guest house with really friendly hosts. A very welcome hot drink prepared for me upon arrival was just the job after a tortuous drive. Spacious, characterful room with quality complimentary items. Quiet nights sleep followed by a good cooked breakfast in a room with it's own, fully laden grape vine. Nice! I will definitely use this venue again if in the area.

One night at the Church Villa B&B
Stayed just one night for a friends wedding nearby. Easy to find with plenty of parking space, the B&B is an old building set ina rural landscape. Our double room was great. spacious and comfortable. The ensuite was very cramped - a hangover from converting am old building I guess. Also the stairs were narrow - mind your head. Breakfast was in a very pleasant conservatory at the back. Price was not too bad all in all.

Feels like a home from home
From arrival I was made to feel very welcome and part of Hilary and Graham's home, which I really appreciated as I was travelling alone. The accommodation only lets out 3 rooms so I expected it to be intimate and friendly and I was not disappointed. I was met at the car and helped in with my belongings. I was shown to my single en-suite bedroom, which was a good size for my needs. It had a single bed, small wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and chair, window seating, good lighting and television with a built in DVD. The en-suite facilities were compact but sufficient for single accommodation and kept extremely clean and comfortable (shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail). I loved all the finishing touches such as the nice fluffy robe, toiletries and the drinks selection available in my room. Internet access was brilliant too. Once settled in I joined Hilary and Graham for a pot of tea in front of the open fire in the guest lounge. As well as the lounge, guests also have access to a breakfast room (conservatory looking out into the large gardens) which contains a fridge for use if needed. The accommodation as a whole is furnished well and in keeping with the lovely old stone building. I felt very comfortable throughout my two successive stays. Breakfast is great, with a good selection of hot and cold foods available, I particularly liked the eggs benedict. I also took advantage of home cooked evening meals which can be arranged on request. A warm and welcoming stay!

Very comfortable B & B in a country setting.
Lovely gem of an English country B & B, situated close to motorway and beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Our hosts were warm and friendly without being intrusive, they ensured all our needs were met. The Breakfast selection was BETTER than anything served in any accomodation i have stayed in around the world, the fresh baked breads are delicious, along with great selection of continental and English breakfast goodies.

A great place to stay and deserves the high rating
What can I say ????Fantastic!!Starting with our plane arriving nearly 5 hours late.I contacted the owner of the guest house and she couldn't have been more helpful, even offering to call the restaurant that I had previously booked to inform that that we would be late.The next day, again, the owner went out of her way to help by providing breakfast to my friends as well as being full of information about the local area. Thank you .We will be back for sure.The house is over 400 years old and it's so quaint.A little gem near to the town centre.
