I called to cancel my reservation three minutes after I placed it, was told that I would get a refund. I would just have to contact Expedia. Now I’m being told by Expedia that the hotel won’t refund me my money.

I was so tired from having a full day and hours of driving that I decided to give this old hotel a chance and proceed with check in. It was near midnight when I lay down and within an hour I was awakened. A sharp pain in my side snatched me out of my sleep. I turned on the lights and found a red bump on my ribs and immediately begun further inspection. Bed bugs! I took pictures, grab my stuff and went to the front desk. When i told the attendant, he was completely unbothered. when I said bed bugs, he had his script ready. I could tell he had rehearsed because even when I asked for my refund he repeated it verbatim. I was too sleepy to deal with it then so I just left and checked into a better hotel in the area. .

We'll pass next time
Checked in at front counter but the word "hello" or any other greeting was never uttered. Upon arrival in the room I spotted and crushed a bug on the bathroom counter (roach? Dunno). Room looks ok at first glance, but a closer look & it's pretty rough. The room smelled stuffy to us both. I thought it even smelled like stale smoke despite it being a non-smoking room/hotel? Bed sloped to middle. Small squishy pillows. Appreciated the pancake machine at breakfast but the rest was very basic. No peanut butter!? A microwave is in the breakfast area but no dish ware that can go in it - all Styrofoam. Would prefer paper plates, bowls & cups all around. Signs in hotel pointed to a fitness centre which caught my interest. Turns out its closed & used for their storage.

Sleep Inn @ Columbia
This Hotel is very old. The room has old carpeting with a permanent musty smell, stains and old style decor. The bathroom is ultra small with cockroaches running around. We were too tried late at night to go to another hotel otherwise we’d have done that. The only good part was the breakfast was very good and clean with new machines and a decent selection of food. The lady serving breakfast provided good customer service and kept the area stocked and cleaned. This place has a 7.4 rating on Hotel.com and I wonder how that could be. I sense that rating is misguided. I may have overlooked other better hotels in the area as I went with the rating. We were there for an overnight trip.
