Rather sleep in the car
I arrived at about 7 PM and the person behind the desk was in the process of renting the last room. I told him I had a reservation. He had no clue about any reservations. He logged into his computer and confirmed my reservation. The heat was off in the room when I arrived. The temperature was 52 degrees. I had to unplug the microwave in order to plug in the refrigerator. There was no hook or pole to hand any hangars. The toilet was loose. There were 5 towels, no two of which were the same color. There were places where you step on the carpet where you could feel holes in the floor underneath. The carpet was seamed together in several places with the aluminum plates that are normally used between a carpet and a doorsill. I was a little surprised that Expedia dealt with places like this.

cheap motel, cheap condition
the motel was cheap and as such i wasnt expecting an awful lot, but it didnt even meet up to expectations, the heating didnt work and as such they provided a noisey blow heater which needed to be run all night. the room was cleaned daily but the bedding and bed were in a poor state with numerious stains and burn holes from cigaretes. the road noise was herendous as the windows were rotten and single glazed and was often woken during the night by the trucks driving past. overall the motel was old and tired and it showed. i would recomend anybody that was thinking of using this motel to look else where unless using as a 1 night drive through which unfortunatly i wasnt.

Very dingy
The room was the least expensive one in the area so my expectations were not high for any frills, etc. However, three things really killed it for us: the room smelled like stale cigarettes, the lighting was very dim (you could say "grim"), and the quality of the bed was absolutely terrible (you could feel the springs pushing up through the mattress). We could not wait to get up and leave in the morning.

not impressed
after we checked in we went to room,tied to turn heat on.could not get heat to come.called front desk,front desk said they did not have heat in that part of hotel.front desk said they would be right down with space heaters.Thanks ,but no thanks.we checked out.Motel did not disclose any heating issues at time of check in.

Serviceable motel
The Admiral is an aging road side motel. It was clean and resonably priced for a one night stay. More truck stop than Inn, if your stay in the Mid-Coast region is more than a day you may want to upgrade to more contemporary accomodations.

grumpy old man, rude service, mice
When I checked into this motel, the man came out to the desk after me waiting several minutes trying figure out if anyone was there. The lobby was stinky and dingy and reeked of stale cigarette smoke. I was not greeted with a "hello" or "welcome" but a grizzled guy with a bad attitude looking at me like I had 3 heads. There were no "thank you" or any normal exchange..just a key and that he charged me. The beds are old and the springs dig into your back, the decor is super dated ...not completely unclean inside but there were some dead mice hanging around the front at night when i came back. Not a good place...try the Gull or comfort inn which might be a few more bucks (they are all close by) but well worth it.

BEWARE
Carpeting ta tty...floor uneven. Sink not only had maj or leak but it fell from the wall!!! Lobby filled with cigarette smoke. Good news...the t.v. remote worked!!

The Motel in Belfast Maine was close to the bay
Although I found the room to be very small it was clean and very peaceful. We didn't spend much time there just to sleep and shower then on our way up the coast of Maine.

Nice owners aside.....
Older property. Outside looked good, but inside was a big disappointment: no closet; curtain didn't cover the window completely (and had tiny holes in it); stale odor (old cigarettes?); floor shook (had numerous "soft spots" and caused things to bounce off the furniture); heavy highway noise; and beds were uncomfortable (one "crackled" when sat/laid upon/rolled over on). Hate to give such "bad news" on this place because the owners were a wonderful couple who were very friendly and worked hard to make us comfortable but, unfortunately, their property wasn't much for them to work with.

you get what you pay for
low price matched quality, worn out matresse stayed 3 nites and after 2nd nite we had to take our trash out. great location but decided not to stay longer.

BARGAIN MOTEL ******* EXCELLENT VALUE******* RECOMMENDED
MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTED !!!! Essentially an older, well maintained, clean, convenient motel. Management was friendly and efficient. Room was HUGE, very clean, well equipped for the price. We had a problem free three night stay. Quiet, set back above the road (U.S. Rte 1), just north of Belfast. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Better than the average reviews we'd read for this property. Far better than most budget motels !!!!! Fridge and microwave in room, but no coffee maker. Breakfast was coffee and budget donuts, with no place to sit. At these prices, who cares !!!!

The Admiral's Inn, hideous!
The best thing I can say is that the bathroom looked clean, had plenty of hot water and the room had a TV set. That's it. We asked for a pet friendly room for us and 2 dogs. They gave us a room that reeked of stale cigarette smoke with a disgustingly dirty rug. The "inn" is in front of the main highway, so all night I heard the cars whizzing by because I left the window open trying to get some fresh air... One reviewer said there was an ocean view. I suppose a glimpse of water through the trees may qualify for that person, not for most others. It was one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. I would not recommend it!

admiral ocean in isnt even a first mate
going to a tourist area you would expecte a room that is modern and up to date. Althought the room was very clean the bed was from the year 1923 if that. If you have a bad back dont go there its terrible. the clerk was very kind we are smokers but we always get a non smoking room this time he brought out the key i asked if we could switch to smoking room he said fine checked us in and gave us th same room key he brought out the room was clean but stunk from very old smoke and that was going to be our non smoking room guess either way you get the same room like i said we smoke and we thought it was nasty i will never go back there again

for the price you got what you paid for
the rooms where clean, however needed up dating, the sheets had clorox stains on them, burn holes in the conforter. the view which you think is ocean is through the trees and not very visible. the breakfest consided of a prepackage donute and coffee.

OLD MOTEL
I had requested a non smoking room. That did not happen. A air freshner was in the room. the mattress was very very old. You could feel every spring, there was a 18 inch rip in the mattress by the top seved bead. I found that looking for bugs. Floors were so unlevel there were blocks under the legs at the head of the bed. Did not see room service during our 3 day stay. Bed was not maid or got clean towles or soap. We travel with all our own products that we may need. This place made the Bate4s motel look like the Hilton. All other motels in the area were booked.

Unassumingly Pleasant
We were on a trip to visit breweries all over New England and heard about the Three Tides restaurant which is next door to Marshall Wharf Brewery. We chose the Admiral's Ocean Inn because it was close to the waterfront and reasonably priced. While it's not much to look at from the outside, the Inn is very clean and comfortable and the staff was quite nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to the budget conscious traveler looking for a nice place to stay in Belfast, ME.

Won't stay next time
One of the bed boxspring has blood stain on it. When we checked out at 6:30am, the owner hadn't get up yet and we had to wait awhile.

I was not at all satisfied with this room. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The room could use an update. Didn't seem very clean.

Admiral's Ocean Inn: A Disappointing Stay
The hotel is very dowdy in appearance. When tthe people in the room above us walked our beds shook. Our son's room had holes in the flooring covered with carpet. The bedding was very old and stained. The towels were old but clean looking. The mattresses were made of a synthetic material which crackled loudly whenever one turned over. Rte. 3 is a very noisy well traveled route. The Continental Breakfast was inferior, only cheap quality packaged pastry and bad tasting coffee. The location which conveniently allows access to many major routes is a distinct plus.
