Rooms are very outdated. Whilst on my stay there as a sewage smell coming from the bathroom for my whole stay which could not be fixed as there was no problem. Other than that staff where amazing and welcoming jut the actual hotel is outdated

The area is quite nice with a lot of bars & restaurants around. The hotel is a little bit extravagant, but rooms (at least the one I had) quite small with a not very convenient view. However, for a night or two alone or as a couple it is definitely worth the price.

Chosen for convenience to the main train station, The Exchange was clean and comfortable no-frills accommodation with creative touches. Staff were ok and helpful when I needed a phone charger due to no USB point in the room. As it was a Sunday it was also quiet, but I imagine that's not the case on other nights, being on the main central street and from previous experience!

Location was convenient for an early morning departure from Amsterdam Centraal. The rooms were all different, with different "fashion" designs. Our room was a bit more of a minimalist, all white look with some metal accents and switches, etc covered with white enclosures. If you are vision impaired, as I am, request to *not* get this room. The boxes are sharp on the edges and I was often unable to see them. This made it hard for me to find light switches and hooks, which was a minor inconvenience. I also walked right into one of the enclosures (covering a rail with hangers for clothing) and hit my head fairly hard. I realize that I am a bit of an outlier and this review is not necessarily applicable to everyone, but it could be of importance to a few select potential guests at this hotel.

I could not fall asleep despite earplugs because of the noise the rain was doing on dripping on the windows. The construction is not well designed and that makes a strong noise (like knocking on the window). The receptionist had no solution for this. So my night was not good. When I asked for an iron , I had to wait for a long time . And the hair dryer was difficult to find in the room. Service is below average: no motivation to help. Overall I do not recommend except if you have no other options like me.

In late October-early November I was given a room which had no heat. It was bone-chilling cold. I caught one of the most furious colds of my life and had to seek medical attention. I relayed the situation twice to the hotel personnel, and their only action was to give me an additional comforter for the bed, nothing else. I can only assume that the hotel management either had no solution or else didn't care. I will never stay there again.

Room was okay. Was reasonably clean but lacking. Would have loved a little fridge to keep a drink cold. Very convenient location but steep stairs. Would only stay there for the price in comparison to what else is around.

Not happy.
Booked a city view suite top floor, they had last 2 of 2. Paid extra. Got to hotel 11am. They said room not ready till 2pm. That's fine, Come back and they gave us a room without city view but facing the back of all other buildings. Which we paid extra for a city view. Room was absolutely freezing. Asked for electric heater they said they will drop off which they didn't. They said turn the radiators on as they were all turned off. Took 6 hours to heat room up. Not acceptable. Steps are very steep to climb on certain floor's. Some staff were good, others poor.

They booked me last second at an amazing price, I was more than surprised with how awesome the room was. It had two balconies. It was top floor right in the heart of downtown Amsterdam. It had tons of free coffee the bathroom was super clean the bed was huge probably the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at for the price.

pretty good place but not for everyone.
it’s a kinda hip place in a very touristy part of amsterdam. better for young people who are there to party and crash. staying in the room isn’t an option. only the bed fits 😂 all that being said if the above applies to you this is going to be perfect for you. My 19 year old son loved it. downstairs cafe makes excellent coffees.
